Title: Hello!
Post by: Mark121 on Monday, 05 April 2021, 05:07 PM
Hi guys,

New to the group!

I'm after a bit help if you are able to point me in the right direction. My dad owned a GSX 1400, however he recently passed away and the bike has come to me. With that has also come a spare set of pipes and a fuel tank. I'm looking to keep the bike, but the tank and pipes will be sold. Any idea on how much they are worth or where to find out??

Thanks

Mark

Gidday Mark & welcome to the forum.

Do you know what model / year the pipes & tank are from?  Tanks are rare & very expensive to buy new, if you can get one.  Pipes, not so much, is it a twin system or 4 into 1?  If it's a 4 into 1 "Bazooka" you won't get bugger all for it, if anyone actually wants one of those.  The std twin setup is much more sort after & saleable.

It's a Y Reg so 2001 model I believe. Will be able to get some pictures later today.

The pipes are standard twin.

Should be a K2 tank then, blue & white I presume? (all the best 14s are).

All the tanks are physically the same, it's just the paint work that varies.

Lovely original K2, sorry for your loss

I bought a new K2 tank (which is still in the box for a rainy day) from Cupar motorcycles at the end of last year and it was £599, the same seller now has them listed at £779 & they were a couple of hundred £ cheaper than anyone else last year

Before you sell the tank it may be worth having a look inside and underneath the tank fitted to the bike, although they look good on top they rust from the outside in on the base of the tank

Cheers

Pete...
