I just changed the oil and the F....NG sump plug is weeping. Any suggestions ?????????????????????? :confused1: :confused1: :confused1:
Get s dowty washer (washer with a rubber seal or a new genuine sump washer don't try to tighten it that little extra as you'll strip it or crack the sump .
Good luck with it
Yep, as Seth says or just a new sump washer, even a nylon one works. I have a selection of copper washers for the sump & just bung on a new one each time. They were cheap so why not.
It's probably a bit of dirt on the seat, I've had the same sump washer for 100k now without issue.
So I need to drop the new oil and start again ????????? BUGGER :confused1: :confused1: :confused1:
Yeah start again but re use your oil.

Go to bunnings and get a packet of paint filter papers, they look like the old school coffee percolator filters, drain the oil into a clean oil pan, fix your sump washer (get a new copper one) then refill bike through the paint filter paper sitting inside an oil funnel.
There's a crush washer, but no copper washer am I missing something ???? :whatever:
GSX, buy a bottle of 518 Loctite. Use that on your washer, last one youll ever buy. Brilliant product.

Some people use a copper washer instead. If you do I'd say anneal it first as they harden as they oxidise.

Chris, if its a genuine Suzuki part, the crush washer and sump bolt are all you should need, BUT, make sure the washer is the right way up! I know it sounds daft but there is a right and wrong way to fit the washer.......last oil change I did I almost got it wrong before I realised `cause the washer is shaped in such a way that `upside down` looks right, when it actually isn`t! :onya:
@grog $48 for 518 is that right ?????????????? :whatever:
A small tube on E Bay $14.50 posted.Next size up is $25. Lasts a long time, not much needed.
Found an alternative. Mates toolbox LOL luckily he already owned some. A quick smear on the sump plug and reinstalled and VIOLLA no leaks thanks
@grog and other contributors problem solved :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
I'll await the next thread where the sump cracked trying to undo it for the following oil change :stir: :whistling:
