It won't have anything to do with oiling the chain, the spring may have come off / broken or look at the stand mount, sometimes they bend / deform.

You haven't given much detail as to what's happening, so it's a bit of a stab in the dark.  Sounds like you've put it on the main stand, oiled the chain & when you pushed it off the stand has failed to spring up the where it should be & is just hanging there.  If so, it'll be the spring.

If the bike has been standing for a while the stand pivot can partially seize. Mine did it after a lot of UK winter riding. I'd previously rebuilt the bike from the ground up and put pleny of grease on the pivot bolt. I loosened the bolt a tiny amount and it solved the problem.

Try washing all the lube off the chain and return it to it's previous condition, if that doesn't fix the problem you can rule out chain lube as the problem.  Hope this helps.  :whistling:

Hello people, thanks for the suggestions. I can see the springs are OK. The bike has been stood for months also it is outside under a cover as I don't have a garage. I will try to loosen the pivot bolt to see if the pivot is partially seized. Thanks again for your suggestions!

Best regards Mal.

Hi. I got round to fixing the "Stuck" stand. It was, as suggested partially seized! Slackened off tapped it ,it released and retracted as it should.

Thanks again for all the help!
