Hi.
I've just bought a K6 with 12,800 miles. Been wanting a 14 for years.
Currently also have a ZRX1200S which needs stripping and going through.
It came with a gel seat and full Akrapovic and I've just added a power commander with the downloaded Akra map. Might take it to the local dyno for mapping after the lockdown.
Not really into bling and don't want to take the look away too much but i'm thinking to change the brake clutch lines to braided and possibly the levers. Not sure but maybe an led lamp and the rear tidy. While I like the Akra, I think I also like the twin pipes used on the earlier models. Black widow do a nice set with blued outlets on them.
For my first ride, I just took it to my local store for my weekly shop (12 A road miles) and felt quite at home on it.
The only thing I need to do soon is source a couple of spare keys. The only one that came with the bike is slightly bent and could snap. Think this won't be cheap as the key is chipped for the immobiliser and I don't have the original tags. Seems that some places require me to send the ecu and ignition. Not sure I want to start removing bits from the bike. After the lockdown is over and the dealers are open I'll pop up there with the bike, useable key, and logbook and see what they say.
Anyway I am hoping to get a few good years riding from it. The last year was lost due to the lockdowns and when we could get out the ZRX isn't running properly, so only got to ride a couple of times
Hi Kirsten

Hi Kristen and welcome to the forum. As regards to your key problem try looking in your service book on the inside cover as the dealer may have added the key number with all the other details. Have a look it's worth a try.
Welcome Kristen!
Thanks Del
Like the ZRX, but it had ongoing problems after water got in the tank from the cap. I've replaced the cap and barrel with original. The tank and carbs have been off several times and thoroughly cleaned with new fuel. Starts and runs ok but still splutters when going to pull away. Occasional cylinder not firing (cold down pipe, but not always the same one). Spark looks weak so may need to look into the coils or pickups. New plugs and battery. Possibly need to put the guages on the carbs. Unfortunately after chucking some time and money at it, I started to loss the motivation for it.
Needs stripping and doing up. Spent its life with me and the previous owner outdoors. The rear springs, handle bar and other bits are rusty and need painting or replacing, the wheels could do with new power coat. Apart from the misfire is still good mechanically, recent chain, bearings and head races.
The GSX is newer with lower mileage and is clean to start with, so I plan to keep on top of it.
Thanks Tally.
Unfortunately I didn't get a service book with it, just the last two mots and the log book for the guy I bought it from. My new logbook came yesterday and it seems I'm owner number 8.
Welcome - Croeso :)

Welcome to the forum Kristen. :onya: You may want to rethink your idea of fitting an LED headlight, they are now illegal in the UK.

Depends.
A LED bulb in the original headlight will fail an MOT, a complete replacement light will be ok.
