Title: Finishes
Post by: Tink on Friday, 29 January 2021, 05:20 AM
Evening People, not sure on the finish of the items in attached pictures. Is the cam cover a polished finish on the edges where corrosion has started?. Swingarm a brushed finish or a clever paint job?. Footrest brackets, Paint or powder coat??
TIA
Tink

Cam Cover is a polished finish which was then lacquered as standard
Swingarm is a light silver powder coat which can readily be taken off with wet and dry to expose the alloy underneath.
Footrest brackets - as per swingarm

I'll put my neck on the chopping block here and disagree with you on the swing arm finish @gsxbarmy  :imrgreen:
It's anodised and not powdercoated as standard..It was on mine anyway. Foot rest hangers are painted as standard and not the same finish as the swingarm :onya:

On reflection I think you may be right @froudy, anodised. Comes off easy enough though with wet and dry so a pretty thin coat

Tink, cam ends polish up easily/ nicely. Your black motor looks to have a few chips, just pencil touch them and then some S100 or Harley engine brightener, youll be amazed. Swing arm, ive been meaning to polish but not got there yet. Now thinking id like to Hammerite black. Footpeg hangers, never worried me but again, would polish or paint easily. You mightve got me motivated. Hangers, swing arm and rear brake anchor black/ grey Hammerite id like. Now in my head.
