Just found this on another forum.
Why is it that motorcyclists revel in trying to find a way around things so they can ride their bike? Is it REALLY that important that for 4 weeks the UK government asks you to Stay Home and only ride essential journeys to try to stem the tide of the virus? Recreational use is not an essential journey IMO. Whilst you can argue "well I never meet or stop anywhere, what harm is it doing?", well you do at petrol stations, and if you are unfortunate to have an accident and get hospitalised then all you are doing is putting an unnecessary strain on the NHS. Have you seen pictures of "biker meets" where the places are rammed??????
I've had the unfortunate experience of nearly losing a very close friend to Covid. If ever you've seen someone desperately trying to breath and then having to be put on a ventilator, then perhaps the mindless idiots that insist that "oh it's ok for me to go for a ride on my motorbike as I'm not breaking the law" might think again. Which part of "Stay Home" do those who insist on riding really not understand?
Good news? I don't think so :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: Technically it's absolutely correct (more's the pity), due in part I think, there wasn't enough time to refine it prior to release. Morally - well that's another story.
Hi all
What gsxbarmy said is very true in the fact he point out ref guys out on the bike and having a accident and then going to hospital just for the sake of a ride out
I've just got back from a four day bed watch on three prisoners who all have COVID but being with them on the ward there were 27 other there yes we were in full ppe but the pint is that COVID is a total shit to get having seen people gasping for air and being on ventilator machines for the hole time there I only seen one person leave there in the four days I was there it's no joke stay alive to ride another day stay at home please
Agreed
This isn't really the time to be looking for loopholes in the guidelines .
Not happy here in Wales -Lockdown has finished but Merthyr 20 miles from me has the highest rate in the Uk of 700 per 100,000 but they can travel anywhere ???? Stay at home FFS :furious: :furious: :furious:
I totally agree guys, respect is needed for hospital staff; garage staff; recovery drivers, etc. etc. None of them want our business right now, so stay home, be happy to polish the bike again and enjoy admiring your work with a pint afterwards
Perhaps I should have titled it "Good news for some" as I have no intention of riding during lock down (but I know plenty will). My niece is a nurse and sees what covid does to people every day, plus we lost a family member last week to covid. I've still got pension to collect so don't want it.

Yep there are a number of these about, all saying how one can ride during the lockdown. Whilst legally that may be so, morally - well that's another question.
Morally we've all got a duty to defy & ignore unjust laws.
Each to their own but working in s hospital and dealing with other staff who work on the front line of the fight against covid and also watching the amount of extra undertaker's vans passing our workshop .
And recently having to attend the funeral of a close relative who died of covid .
I will be following the rules .
On an extra note if you breakdown or worse the breakdown folk will take your bike home but not you as riders aren't allowed in the cabs of breakdown vehicles.
Seth, just an innocent question based on what you`ve said :- why is it that riders aren`t allowed to travel in the cabs of breakdown vehicles? Surely if everyone involved is wearing face protection there isn`t an issue, just like travelling in a taxi, for exapmle?
Exactly what've I've said when I've heard about it before too.
@DP1400 Not what heard no
A friend had an accident not a bad one but her bike was unrideable the breakdown wouldn't take her someone had to come get her.
Last week one of the works van driver broke down in his van the only way he could go with the van was sitting in on the back of the breakdown truck .
It was going to where he couldn't get home from so his family drove to pick him up .
We are not allowed to ride in the same vehicle's at work I work for the nhs.
Call your breakdown service and ask what would happen if you broke down on your bike .

@DP1400 - good question - just looked at the RAC pages (as an example) to see what their position is and essentially they say they "may not always be able to take you wish us in our vehicles" - I assume the same for the AA and other recovery services.
Link to the RAC Covid page, so you can see the article - as I say, I assume other recovery companies are similar https://www.rac.co.uk/covid-19
Thanks for the responses to my query guys. What a bonkers world we live in! I naturally assumed that standard face masks as worn on public transport would have sufficed. Presumably this is the position anyone could find themselves in regardless of what they`re riding/driving, assuming they have a legitimate reason for being out and about.....
.....this`ll explain why i`ve noticed so many people wandering around on the motorway lately, they must be waiting for a bus :)!
It's a very strange world indeed .
I saw a advert for a breakdown company the other day that says they take your car and arrange a taxi for you .
I think it's to reduce the number if staff the breakdown companies have taking time off to self isolate ECT.
Not sure why it's then ok to use a taxi as unless screened off the taxi driver has the same risk.
On busses I saw a double decker the other day with a message in the front saying " this bus is full" only 6 people on it.
Strange times indeed.
Most of the busses I see have "not is service" on the front, I've tried google and Bing, still cant find where it is. :confused1:

Speaking as an ex bus driver, it's the best destination you can be assigned.
Caution!!!!!! A friend in the insurance industry has advised me to check with my provider as to whether I am insured against an accident or any other claims if I have an accident on a non-essential journey as some companies may be looking at this as a get out clause. As my car insurance is due at the end of the month and the 14's in January I will be asking them directly about this. As a precautionary note CHECK with your provider.
If in doubt
Save your NCB's
Don't GO OUT. :coffeescreen: :onya: :salute:

Insurers do not have magic powers to invalidate insurance on a whimhttps://www.whitedalton.co.uk/motorbike-blog/2020/11/will-riding-my-motorcycle-or-driving-my-car-in-lockdown-invalidate-my-insurance/
Insurance companies do love a look hole to get out of paying out or at least minimising any pay outs .
@numbskull you are right. I read the white dalton link and spoke to my insurance provider as well and they agree my insurance is valid if I ride during lockdown. It seems I'm the victim of a wind-up by my so called friend,so all is good now :boogie:
