Shed envy alright. Went from a three bay shed to a single garage. A bit of a tight fit but such is life.

I know an Irish shed will give you less than what you pay but a Scottish one gives you more than what you pay for. Is it me or is a 4m by 6m good for 24 square meters?  :onya:

Just maths, 4 x 6 gives ya 24

Also depends on internal or external, so it could be 22.04 if 100mm wall.

@Eric GSX1400K3 The new small one is in Ireland, the green one is in Oz, btw my next door neighbour here in the Emerald Isle has a palm tree in his front yard.

Sure looks like a house Irish. My shed is 55 Sq. Metres but fit 2 cars and bike, not much space left. Often thought of extending it, possible but expensive, ground slopes away at rear. My shed was original Butcher shop in our town, built 1955. I re did in 1992.

Nice fence Mrg, think it's a bit of an overkill if you can't get over the black one.

Yes the new fence was not at my cost the school had to pay for this as it's there's and it was from the front of our house to the back cost them over 3000 with all the ground work they had to do and put in two foot gravel margin to stop weeds getting back to our side  and the back fence is cool  :onya: I backs onto a works place and they have good security on there place

My man cave is ready for winter again. It's had it's yearly coat of Creosote. Drainage channels fitted this year so it's not sitting in water. It's reasonably tidy inside as well (Apart from Nottys stash cluttering up one corner :imrgreen:)
I usually leave a fan blower on cold 24/7 to make sure I've got good air circulation. The Bandit tank is brimmed full to prevent condensation and rust forming in the tank. I'm gradually working through cleaning all my tools and giving them a wipe over with ACF50 to prevent rust.

@froudy
Have you thought about running a dehumidifier instead of a fan, I use one on the boat in winter instead of using the water catchment tank I put a hose into the sink to get rid of the moisture. A mate built a lined box in his garage for the bike and put the unit in there for more efficiency.

I used to use a dehumidifier when I had a garage. It was pulling out 5 litres of water every 24 hours. It never switched off and was running constantly.

Thats the reason why I use the tube to drain, when the tank fills up a float turns the unit off.

Making a crate around the bike & putting the dehumidifier in there makes a lot of sense.  Much smaller space so will use less power.

Im spoiled rotten my Garage/Workshop is part of the house and the central heating boiler is in there aswell - Ive lined the door with underfloor heating insulation (2x6mm) so its fairly cosy in there all year round

Back in the 70/80's if you had a garage and central heating the boiler was usually in the garage. I was lucky then that my parents had it. All the mates round for a yarn and a couple of beers, was also good when myself and mate where making TZ fairings but you didn't stay in there to long after that.

That's the way to do it Kiwifruit, my first shed I built slightly higher than normal the second higher again so I could put a mezzanine in and a car hoist.

I installed a flat inside my shed in Oz just before I left, a few trimming to finish when I go back, only got a few pics under construction. Off the grid gas and solar power, one bedroom, lounge and dining kitchen, large bathroom utility room. 50 square metres. Mezz floor above.

Nothing wrong with a man cave. I'd say most have more character than a tin shed. Our intention is to kit it out with a bathroom and kitchen so we can use our caravan to sleep in and rent the house out. Just don't  mention it to the council lads  :onya:
Or.... we could put some mattresses on the floor, hire a porta loo and have 100 lndian and Bangladeshi seasonal kiwifruit pickers live in it. Might run that past management

So true, a mate of mine has 3 garages now and wants to put up a fourth because he has no room to work on anything 19 cars and 4 bikes, all good stuff I might add

Great photo Jeff,

Nice to see the three great bikes from the different eras and the truck in the background.

What's the story on the truck?
Title: Re: Shed Preparation for Winter Projects
Post by: Irish in Oz on Sunday, 18 October 2020, 09:41 PM
Hi Johno
I still have the truck its parked up under the big carport half way down the yard, 1950 Dodge Fargo with straight six 250 ci KEW side valve engine the same as I have in the classic ski boat. It was running I'll restore it one day when I retire, bit of rust to remove and some mig work.

Won't be back for a while yet mate so you will have to come over for another holiday.
