Hello bearers of knowledge of all things GSX14!!!
I have had a look through out the Forum and on the interweebs, but I am unable to find a straight answer to this!! Are you able to add a centre stand to the later GSX14 models?
Details of such wisdom I seek is.........
-Dose the newer fames have the mounting points for the stand?
-Will I need to swap out the pipes to accommodate this change?
-Who is the worlds Pie eating Champion?
Ok, scratch that last one, but any advise would be greatly appreciated.
If you're talking about main stand, they should all come with one attached, else if it's been removed it could be put back on.
If the bike is standard it should have a Center stand all mounting points are on the frame .
If you have a non-standard exhaust thats why it might have removed .
Any k5 onwards Center stand will fit a k5 on
they are different to the earlier upto k4 center stands .
Hope you get sorted
Just to clarify what has been said.
There are two types of main stand. Those that are fitted to the K2-K4 (which have twin pipes as standard) and those that are fitted to the K5-> which has the single pipe as standard.
Some owners have fitted twin pipes to their later (K5->) 1400's, in which case they would have had to have removed the stand that came as standard. However, you can fit the stand off a K2-K4 to the K5-> models, with a bit of spacing (although the later stands won't fit the K2-K4 models.
Also, if you have a Akra fitted, it's entirely possible that that may have caused the stand to be removed (irrelevant of model).
So before saying what you can / can't add to your K5 - what exhaust setup do you have????
I have a full akra system. which means I cant have a centrestand which is a shame because i like centrestands.
But it also means I have a K7 centrestand sitting in a box at home unused which I'd consider selling.
Stands and frame too are diferent between K4- and K5+ !!!!
When you put 4-2 exhaust to K5+ you have to modify central stand K4- but K5+ too!
Ive had bikes with sidestand only, others with centrestand only. I really like having both. Reckon i use sidestand 90% of time. Good to have option, hilly lies, chain maintenance etc. Prob main reason ive not fitted Yoshi or Akra system.
I use my main stand 99% of the time - different ways we do things eh.
Thanks all for the details, appreciated :notworthy: :clapping:

I am yet to see what the set up underneath the bike, as it is being delivered down to Brissy Friday.
Always prefer the centre stand for working on the bike as many do, so will be giving this a good look when I have the chance.
I still refit the Center stand to my k6( full akroprovic system) when doing and major maintainance (without the springs) I also have a underbraced swingarm that stops fulltime fitting .
😎
Centre stand, or not? Personally I can do without one on my `14 - saves a bit of weight too!
Had many bikes with and without, to be honest I don`t miss having one, and have rarely used them in the past. Any `wheels-up` maintenance I need to do is done with paddock stands. No problem. :onya:
If mine had a centre stand it'd have been slung in the corner of the garage years ago. The early stand gets in the way of my left foot when riding and pisses me right off.
I like the way were all different. Neither stand bothers me. I actually think this only bike ive owned that doesnt have something that annoys me.
