Title: Introduction
Post by: Big Steve on Sunday, 13 September 2020, 04:11 AM
Well hello there! a 66 year old git here, just got myself a K7 FE, after selling my Ducati Diavel, which sits alongside my XJR1300sp in my garage
Never ever owned or ridden a Suzuki in my time on planet earth, some 18 bikes owned and sold in that time
First ride out today and very pleased but not with the initial bite of the front brakes, what's the opinion on the best pads (hate EBC) ?
looking forward to receiving your responses...... Cheers

To all things 1402 from perthshire, Scotland.
Enjoy the bike you've come to the right place.
I use EBC pads without any problems .
I'm sure other will be along with other suggestions for brake pads .

Hi Steve & welcome to the forum.

As for the front brake, yes it does leave some folk underwhelmed, especially if they're used to radial fronts. Brake pads are always a personal preference, some like sintered & others like organic, some like HH & others GG.

Welcome Steve. Good of you to join us.
As for your brakes, you don't say why you dislike EBC. I use them and like them. HH front & GG rear, stops really well.
Enjoy your new bike......

Welcome along @Big Steve  :onya:

I always used EBC HH all round without any problems or dislikes. 50k miles covered over 8 years. I did however change the front calipers from 6 pots to Tokico 4 pots.

Ayup.

EBC are shite, I never use them either.

You probably need to strip the front callipers & check for seized pistons, it's pretty common these bikes.

G'day from another newbie (sort of)   Enjoy the 14, One bike I found has a fair amount of adjustment to make the ride as smooth as you can.
If you haven't already,  re bleed the brake lines,  Oil may have some bubbles or be a bit water saturated.  :riding:

Welcome BigSteve

Brakes are as they say a personal thing.

I just replaced my GOLDfren fronts for MetalGear 30-030-S2 (they are just up the road from me).
Price was atleast half of other known brands that I could research.
They do a great job and are on par with the GOLDfren's.
I use an organic Suzuki original for the rear. When I saw the amount of brake pad in comparison to third party products I went with original product.

Anyway.. good luck with the old girl  :onya:
