I think we have all had to regard 2020 as a write-off with the Covid situation and probably there are many who have had to cancell a trip - but how do we feel about 2021 at the moment?
Is anyone booking anything or is it too soon...?
Pete.
We're hoping to get over to the Netherlands mid April but only time will tell .
This year deffinatly a write off.

April  That's adventurous!
Do you cheat and get a ferry from Rosyth to dodge the motorway drag through England in the rain
The old ferry from rosyth to zeebrugge stopped a few years ago .
The new one from rosyth to near Groningen didn't happen and looks like it won't happening.
We always go Newcastle to Amsterdam.
This was first year missed in 8 years .
Cancelled two holidays this year - firstly to Bermuda to see the grandson & family, and more recently, Cornwall due to the dire weather a few weeks ago and the covid cr4p .
We can only think positively about 2021, so will look to re-booking Bermuda again, Cornwall too, and also a family holiday in our favourite Turkish bolthole.
Roll-on 2021, lets hope its a heck of an improvement on 2020 :frustrated:!
Nowt planned, but then I never plan much in advance.
Don't bother
2020 has been one of my best years ever (and I've had 55 of them). Business is booming (largely due to fakeorona), got a new doggo, new house, my 14, two lots of super released...I can't imagine how 2021 could be better than 2020. Oh hang on, yes I can...lots and lots of riding!
@Eric GSX1400K3 :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :coffeescreen:
Need to plan something as I need something to be looking forward to, plus this year's bike tour and holiday has been converted into vouchers.
I'm hoping to go around Scotland in July.......
I've done it in a car about 7 years ago and vowed to go back on a motorbike (I've only just passed my test)
Only 2 of us so far so will be easier to plan ha
@J16SDA I'll be in Scotland in July
But seriously if your coming up give me a shout as I'd be happy to help with places worth visiting and good roads (not that there are many bad ones) and I'd meet you for a ride out too and if we're allowed by then a few beers
Wild Atlantic Way (Northern Ireland end this time) booked for end May/early June :onya:

Beautiful area that so I believe, about the only bit of Ireland I've not done too.
Trying to do a X Canada run - 6K kms - didn't happen in '20 so hoping for '21 May'ish - we'll see!!
I'd love to explore Canada, it looks amazing.
Long roads Hooli -but WE always take the back roads - one reason I use the R1200GS - decided a while back that when the tarmac ran out the gravel would not stop me!

I'm hoping to do this 2022 then Europe 2024.....forward planning haha
Yes sure, we have booked a week around Easter to ride :1400spray: to Airlie Beach. 25 year reunion.
Everyone that was there in 1995 is still alive too.
Well, to answer my own question at the start of this thread I can confirm that I have now got brave (or unrealistically optimistic) and make a couple of bookings.
I'm pitching in with the Kwak GTR owner's meet at Tyndrum for four nights in July, several are hoping to attend but everyone is hedging their bets a bit.
Also I have just finished booking about a dozen different hotels for a 20 day loop of France at the back end of August. Everything has been done on a "free cancellation" basis so if it happens that's great but there's nothing lost if either government bans travel. At least I have something to hopefully look forward to. I don't think that a trip with so many stops could be put together quickly at the last minute especially if competing for hotel rooms when the travel floodgates are opened.
The France trip will also be on the GTR but I have got plans for the GSX as well this year. There should be at least a couple of trips to my place down in Devon when it re-opens and now I have decided that I am retired there could be some extended rides with an odd night out possible.
Whatever you decide for 2021 I hope that you get some decent rides.
Pete.
Sometimes I plan as far ahead as tomorrow.
Good on ya Rynglieder, that's the way!
Next 3 months is house stuff, painting, new A/C, new outdoor area, old electrical stuff replaced. Then a week holiday at golf resort called Coral Cove. Has the longest hole in Oz, par 6. Then a week on bike, down thru NSW if covid allows. Just day by day, stay at pubs. Nothing special planned but sounds ok to me.
Well haven't cancelled my trip to the north end of the Wild Atlantic Way early June yet, still hopeful, won't have to decide until about a week before we go.
I'm planning a 'camping trip' on the boat in the Marlborough Sounds, like to do it before the weather gets too cold at night.

I can vouch for Seth knowing some cracking routes in Scotland..
Where I am there are LOADS of bikes out 'n about...
I ride regularly but tend to stay within Lancashire at the moment.. Though last Sunday I did a really nice ride with a mate to Kettlewell (Yorkshire).. We saw literally 100 - 150 bikes that day...
Another mate is suggesting doing the "NC500" in July..
No doubt many of you have done this trip.. Any advise / recommendations?
S.
Gidday Si & welcome back!! We missed you. What ya riding these days?

Hi Col,
Thank you for your kind words..
I now ride a 2010 CB1300 Red/White (naked version)..
The Honda and the Suzuki are VERY similar in character..
I still see my Suzuki very regularly as the guy only lives around 15 miles from me..
I have attached a photo of the 2 bikes together..
In an ideal world I would own both!! But I dont have a garage (nor the funds to own multiple bikes)..
I am (was) on a Honda forum..
The thing is I have been spoilt by this forum..
This place has a refreshing "Normal" feel in a time we all need some normality (and common sense!)
I have had a fair few bikes over the past 6 years, in fact 12 !! (BMW, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha).
I have been on all those forums and this is the one I always felt the most comfortable on..
Anyway, enough of my ramblings...
I shall visit here regularly from now on,
Best wishes Col,
Simon
Good on ya mate, great to have you back, even if it's on a Hodna.
Welcome back Speedy. Glad you like your bike. Im not a fan of CB but that means nothing. Still riding, thats what its all about. 👍

Well, two weeks ago I finally took the decision to pull the plug on this trip.
Although the Covid travel situation seems to be getting better in some respects there are too many uncertainties, the cost of testing needs to be factored in and at any moment the British or European governments could change guidance without notice.
Fortunately cancelling has cost me nothing, I've moved my ferry reservation to next June / July and will start re-booking hotels soon.
It's disappointing but it looks like I'll be exploring the UK on the GTR and GSX this summer.
