Hey GSX 14 Gurus,
I need some feedback on what disc rotors you guys are using On the front of those epic machines and Any experiences.
I'm about to buy new rotors, looking at Brembo, EBC and metal gear.
I'm not interested in wave discs.
What do you guys prefer. Experience good bad indifferent?
Thanks
Replaced my rear rotor recently. Firstly tried to buy EBC, no stock. Next tried Metal Gear, same problem....no stock.
After some research l finally bought an MTX brand rotor, paired it up with some new EBC GG pads. Bedded in it now, has great feel and good bite when you need it.
Never wanted to buy Chinese but l would not hesitate to buy MTX brand again. Well priced too.
I`m running HEL brake lines all round, standard rear rotor, EBC front rotor with EBC `Double H`sintered pads.
The combination as described gives immense stopping power, and the EBC rotors look really nice on the bike too! :onya:
Metal gear discs all round, paid with HEL braided lines and EBC sintered pads. This combo works for me.
Standard ones & cheap Brenta GG pads, stops more than quick enough to make the tyres chirp at any speed. You just need fingers stronger than an arthritic pensioner.
I replaced my discs with EBC and use organic pads, stops fine.
Thanks for all the good information guys. I purchased EBC HH pads, I think I might try metal gear rotors based on some of your good experiences.
Cheers
I use Metal Gear wave rotors, work form me. Smooth service station concrete can be interesting, but very happy everywhere else.
Throttle where are you based? If Brissie - it's a no brainer as Metal Gear are based here too.
MetalGear are F....ing useless to deal with they never get back to you and don't hold much stock of anything :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:
I'm located in Adelaide, currently working away from home. Once I get back I'll pull the trigger on my new rotors and let you guys know how I went.
I have a Small head shake under brakes, I've had the front wheel straitened and trued, replaced front Tyre, freed the Disk bobbins up and now going to replace the discs. Hopefully this has it braking like new again.
Cheers
Check your steering & fork bushes too.
Also check that compression, rebound and preload are set the same on both forks, plus that both stanchions are at the same height out of the top triple clamp, or flush if you run std rake angle.
For info, I finally did my brakes. I replaced them with metal gear rotors (they had great customer service) and EBC HH pads along with a calib"per overhaul. It now stops great and am extremely happy with braking performance........just about detached my retinas 😂.
Thanks for the chats guys!
Yeah I run Metal Gear stuff.
