Hi All,
I absolutely adore the big OEM silencers on my K2 which are immaculate (thanks to autosol which nothing else comes close to cleaning chrome 😂) and always thought I would never change them. However, having put a few hundred miles on my girl I now realise no one can hear me, even up stupidly close. So I'm swaying towards giving in and fitting a set of after market louder pipes. I'm leaning towards fitting Delkevic's as per the link. I know a lot of you guys have fitted Delkevics. So I wondered if having lived with them for sometime you would still recommend them.

Gut the standard cans if you like the look that much, there will be a guide somewhere.
I think it's cut the disc out the end & then smash the guts out before refitting the disc somehow.
I know they can be gutted but I want to be able to put her back to standard with minimum effort. I honestly think the 14's are gonna be a very sort after classic in a few years.

I thought that once, but sadly I don't think so any more. Prices are def dropping off (if you look at what they actually sell at rather than what people think they should or advertise at). Will always be a good bike, but classic - never.
A pair of 30cm carbon Delkevic's will certainly get you heard, Think they do a 35 as well. Yes I'd buy mine again, great packing, everything you need to fit is there (even lube) the are great quality & look good too.
Hi GSX, well I think your being a tad pessimistic there. In all honesty, I don't care too much on future value but I know a standard bike will always fetch top dollar. So against a modified one, unless the modded one is a virtual one off and not just a molested, badly thought out mistake they will hold their value and increase as time passes.
Phil..... you could always buy a Harvey Parkinson, some even come with a stereo to offend the senses of those around them even more :stir:
Phil, plenty of people are giving away (or throwing out) the large cans, you might be able to get a pair to modify then you have the best of both worlds.
@Big Phil I tried to remove the baffles from a set of std silencers and gave up, ending up selling them on. Not an easy job!
I was fortunate to buy a set of std cans with the baffles already removed, and am happy with the deeper throatier sound.
Not overly loud.
Sounds more like a 1400 than a 750 now.
I prefer the look and style of the std cans not keen on the large outlet end of the Delkevics personally.

I agree totally about a standard bike. On increasing value as time passes, then there we will have to agree to disagree I'm afraid
@Speedy1959 Removed his baffels sure he did a write up
It sounds good when I rode it in the highlands a couple of years ago.

I can't think of any big Suzuki fours say 40 years old that fetch good money compared to the other manufacturers.
Oz, I am not saying they will fetch big money but they will at least hold their value now, if not appreciate a little. My premise is that keeping an older bike in standard form it will always be worth more than a tricked up bike unless it's done in a very special way. I also still think that after another 5 years or so down the road the 14's will become a genuine classic. They will never be for example, Z900 sought after and stupidly expensive but will keep a strong following and keep their value upwards of inflation.
Have a look at the Hawk range that Pipewerx do. Superb quality at sensible prices :onya:

I like a bit of a note, certainly not the noise the local Hardlys make, ridiculous. Love the sound of mine around 3 to 4 k revs. My old Ducati with Contis, that was nice. My old gs1000 with custom made 4 into 2, brilliant.
Well I made up my mind to stay with the originals and modify them as described on here. Couldn't bring myself to hack about with the ones on my bike so bought a pair off eBay today which have only done 3k miles and look like they will polish up like new. Just hope my skill levels are up to the job. Going to hold on until winter before starting so I have something to keep me occupied whilst the bike is oiled and covered up during the cold and wet months.
Thanks for all the advice guys much appreciated as always!
