Does anyone know the official 0-60moph time for the GSX1400 (stock)> (assuming they published one - I couldn't find it).
Otherwise have people done a timed 0-60mph on their stock-ish 1400's ?
NO
Why ? :stir: :stir: :stir:
Video idea I'm working on.
I found a site with almost every Suzuki form the TU250 to the Hayabusa, including the TL, Bandits, Gixxers, B-King, Boulevards... only important bike missing was the 1400 ! https://www.zeroto60times.com/vehicle-make/suzuki-motorcycles-0-60-mph-times/
and the specs here mention everything except a 0-60 / 0-100

Oh wait this one has it !!

says 3.2 seconds which sounds about right.
That's reasonably quick for an old girl.
To be expected Col....its black !! :boogie2:

At least they don't whinge as much as some others. :whistling:
3.2 sounds about right to me, most quickish bikes are the same - any quicker & you flip them.
If it's any help, when I used to ride with one a 14 is neck & neck with a Busa to about 100mph - at which point they bugger off into the distance.
Wow, that's interesting Hooli.
I think it's down to how brave you are winding them open at those speeds Col, easier on a 14 as you can pin it without flipping it. I suspect a Busa is harder to judge.
These days , 3.2 seconds is about how long my signal from brain to hand to turn throttle takes.
6.4 seconds is still better than most cars grog, so you'll still be in front.
XJR130 2.83 Sec
CB1300 2.73 Sec
GSX 1400 2.57 Sec
GSX1400 VS CB 1300 VS XJR1300....0-100 on you tube

For official results a run would have to been done by Jay "PeeWee" Gleason.
Don't know if any of you have seen this, more about torque vs power: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VjYLTS2xOM&list=PLAN3F-xLJrHGw_tTDUmG8UNynRDTkdWYz (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VjYLTS2xOM&list=PLAN3F-xLJrHGw_tTDUmG8UNynRDTkdWYz)
That's a very good video Numbskull. I can just see Grog doing that to an R1 at the lights. :whistling:
They did something similar with the R1 and the 955 Speed Triple through the traffic light grand prix, the R1 boys were not happy.
Col, while back i tried the fast start from lights against a Boulevard. Found out later it had a huge Turbo bolted to it. Now that was what i call acceleration, thought i was on a Honda 50. Best ive seen.
Depends who's riding, the 1/4 mile time of 11.8 sec listed is slower than the 11.6 sec I have done at Kwinana Dragstrip.

It's an interesting watch but he is claiming standard power output with an aftermarket exhaust. I don't think that would be accurate and would fix the Suzuki's problem of breathing past the 7500rpm mark.
Amateur Drag Racer I am too, I would suggest they drop down further on the tank for their launch. Racing my friend on his GSX1400 with yoshi pipe and PC3 I always beat him off the line but my Standard pipe would see him tear past at the 200 metre mark. He sat a bit too high as well but I didn't say anything because it was the only chance I had. 😆
Rider must make a difference or are 1400 slow, skinny tyres too, putting mine on the road when back in Oz.
Should have said the year 1984.
For the 80s - 10 seconds was more often the time it takes to stop...

Why slow down. I just love passing modern bikes on an old girl.
This is the best one to pass them on.

They are still reasonably priced, mine is an A1 (first model) not the best for Australia as they are known to run hot with ambient temp being high compared to say UK. I have done some mods to mine to kick in cooling fan earlier. I would recommend the later models but I like to have first editions.
