Nothing to do with virus. My amazing council decided the road from my place needed re sealing. It didnt. 2 week job which will take 3. Now all dug up, uneven, bits of sprayed tar, loose stones. Wont take my bike on it, too many things to go wrong. Will have to use car, dont even like driving on it. Then, traffic control people, so much time sitting for no real reason. Not a busy road. I can go up my road, back road, adds 20k to my work trip. Sounds like im annoyed, yeah i am. Its a 800metre stretch, was quite ok, couldve just done one side then the next. My annoyance is that it was ok but just down the road we have a 5k stretch that is really crap, almost dangerous. Dont you just love the decision makers.
Same with councils all around the world I guess . resurface what doesn't really need it and end just yards from huge deep potholes , must be part of the planners training !! :bugga:
I'm so tempted around here when they circle a couple of small potholes in yellow paint & ignore the huge ones to go out & circle all the ones they missed.
I reported to the council that they need to repaint some potholes as the yellow pain has worn away !! :bugga:
I tried claiming off the council for a car wheel one of the potholes they didn't fix ruined. They just kept 'not receiving' the paperwork and I got bored after several months.
Same here hooli, I hit a sunken drain cover, it actually flat spotted my wheel . Reported it to the council, within 48 hrs the drain was mended, still waiting to hear from the council 3 '1/2 yrs later. I give them a call and all I get is 'it was a long time ago sir '. Useless bunch of money grabbing knob jockeys :jack:
We breed free range potholes and organic road cones in NZ
I have a theory it's cheaper to keep half the lanes on a road shut for no reason than build a warehouse to keep all the cones in.
I use a site called Fixmystreet in the UK to report potholes etc. They then contact the appropriate Council. You'd be surprised how fast things get fixed using this method!

Unfortunately
@grog it's not going to help you out :imrgreen:
I've hit a few potholes over the years. Only one felt like it was swallowing my front wheel and was lucky to keep it upright, however it did give me a flat spot and had it rolled out. Council didn't want to know :whatever:
My friend hit a house brick late at night on freeway 100kph it shattered the front wheel, deflated rear tyre and spat tops off hydraulic reservoirs managed to keep it upright using his legs as outriggers. Required a change of underwear too :rofl2: :rofl2:
Hit a pothole in Aussie, resulted in the most scary tank slapper. I was involved in a little run beside a GTHO Falcon and we were going quick. The bike veered off the road still tank slapping, as soon as it hit the gravel it straightened and l was able to ride it out.
Had to stop and have a little rest after that. Probably my most scary moment on a bike. I learned a lot from that little episode. Like "pay attention".
I have a few or more smashed rims hanging in my shed from the great Aussie back roads.
