Title: Stator
Post by: mikesaa309 on Sunday, 05 July 2020, 10:34 PM
Hi all,

Where would be the best place to get a new stator in the Uk. Looked at bbbikeshop but just seeing if there's anywhere I can get one with the connectors on it without having to send my one off first?

I wish I could remember, I've sent mine off for rewiring each time so been bikeless for a week or two till it came back.

We already have recommendations for them on here. From memory, unless you buy a genuine replacement, you have to swap the plugs over

If I could remember who did mine it'd be handy as they fit a new plug to match.

Time to remember Andy, as with the regular mileage you do, it won't be too long that you'll have covered the mileage to need a further one  :happy1:

I've just had a google & it might have been these, the name not matching the location rings a bell at least.

My dad sent his CX500 stator to west country windings. Hoping to find place where I can buy stator preferably with connectors on it. Wemoto here in the uk sell a stator for £58.50 but guessing this will be cheap knockoff and won't last 5k? https://www.wemoto.com/bikes/suzuki/gsx_1400_k7_fe/07/picture/generator_-_stator

Still would need to attempt to wire the connectors up to it or hard wire it to the R/R wires. Thing about the GSX over a bike like my old bandit 600 is that GSX isn't that common and those that for those that are about are well looked after so I doubt you ever really see parts for them at a breakers. Could probably easily get a stator for the bandit compared to the GSX. Suppose though it's best to just get it rewound rather than get a second hand stator as it won't last as long. Just want the bike back on the road ASAP. This covid thing will surely slow the process down too taking longer to get to whoever rewinds it and then getting it sent back.

The wiring is easy, it's three wires & you can't get it wrong as it doesn't matter which connects to which.  That's why they are all yellow.
