I bought new HEL Braided lines in 2018 but within a few months they discoloured and HEL replaced them with no quibble last year. I only just put the new ones on - The same problem has occurred , discolouration - faulty batch? The rear and front line from master cylinder to splitter are fine, only the 2 from the splitter to the callipers seem affected ? Awaiting response from HEL :bugga:
is that not heat from the exhaust that may be causing that
Del
I have had a similar problem on one side but there was a leak in that fork seal and I reckoned it was from oil blowing back onto hose.

Bike has only done 50 miles since fitted - the last ones all went, from master cylinder to splitter to each calliper and the rear !! :bugga:
Looks like rust, you're washing it too much!
Seriously though, it's about the right height for water to catch in the weave?
Notty, put the OEM rubber ones back on or change to gold braided lines, that way you won't see any discolouration. :whistling: :happy1:
Had the same problem on another bike, the lines went like yours, (I think they might have been a different manufacturer), so I covered them in a coloured heat wrap
.
The ones I bought for the 1400 were a dark colour anyway, so they still look good.
I'd actually say a lack of use :stir: :stir: :stir: :stir: however ....................................................
Nah I've got nothin
Notty. Same happened to me. Contact HEL that's a clear fault with the lines. They should replace - they did in my case. Mine all went brown on the insides too.

have done - awaiting a reply - its the second set :bugga:
@Basil Brush
Originals look better & don't do that :stir:
Dear me. At least they come with a lifetime guarantee. I just have two front lines - no splitter.
2 longer lines you don't need a splitter easier(ish) to bleed and better performance that way .
It shouldn't make any difference to performance, you're still moving the same amount of fluid at the master cylinder with the same leverage on the calipers.
How early? Bon Scott early?
Mine are Hel lines in mid blue colour with titanium fittings and have been on the bike for 10 years cannot fault them.
HEL offered to change full set again - they have escalated the problem to the manufacturer. So I can either wait or choose a different colour...... ???
Brown so the stains don't show? :stir:

So HEL are not the manufacturer, so they get them made in China.

These were from a pre packed set, so as the bike out of production for so long would have thought it a bit of a waste trying to sort it? ???
They'll be made as a massive roll of hose & then cut to length I'd have thought. So still made & just cut to different sizes.

agree new ones will be just made of big rolls but Both packs I have bought were in a vacuum sealed packaging with a complete set, my guess they were made and put on the shelf a long time ago :bugga:
No matter how you look at it. Shit quality that must be costing them more in the long run. By offering a lifetime guarantee.
I thought they were made in the UK in Exeter?
If they are made in China that'll explain the shit quality.
Of coarse the big roll and fittings are made in China, and put together by Chinese in Exeter.
