What's peoples thoughts on the pair system, should I remove it and blank it off or leave it on and keep the bike as original as possible, I'e read a bit about them and most say to remove it as it doesn't really do anything for the bike BUT it wouldn't detract from performance of the bike if removed. Have any of you removed it and if so what's the verdict?

Ive removed mine, stops oil laden crankcase air from the engine being recycled into the airbox. Need to blank off the port into the airbox too.
No noticeable performance difference, but knowing the engine breathes better is good. Ive still got to get a breather for the gearbox/crank vent into the airbox, but that doesnt let as much oily air in.
I removed my pairs for getting reliable AFR readings from wide band lambda.
Then I build a new pair system after turbo and lambda sond to disturb AFR readings of MOT authorities. Works :stir:
No performance increase, but my 14 ran a lot smoother after I removed my PAIRS system. But try it before you remove it - use some small clamps across the rubber pipes. If you prefer it then remove the PAIRS system properly, if you don't just remove the clamps.
Mine ran smoother at high revs when opening & shutting the throttle after removal.
All the PAIRs does is dump cold fresh air into the exhaust to fake better emissions figures for type approval. But by doing that it cools the exiting gases which reduces smooth flow. it only happens at low throttle settings as it's vacuum controlled, but I'd rather it runs nicely than 'cleanly'.
It'll make no difference to oil mist in the airbox unless you've got a serious engine problem that's dumping oil out the exhaust.
I think I'll have it off if it make it run better and also a little lighter, thanks for the replies lads it's good to have people with first hand experience giving advice.
Tony, made mine smoother down low. Oil mist less? Just not how it works.
Our 3 gsx1400's all have pairs removed and all run smoother .
Tip tip.if you can't get a pairs removal kit for a gsx1400 a hyabusa kit is the same .

@Tonythetiger what you could do then is - if you take the rubber pipe off leading to the cover over the PAIRS on the head on each side, you can then get a small bolt and screw it into the hole in the cover (where the pipe goes on), and then put the PAIRS pipe back on. So you effectively remove the PAIRS, but it looks like its still "standard" (and easy to remove).

If you dissable the pair's system I'd remove the reeds from the reed valve holder as they have been know to brake off falling into the valves.

I just cut a couple of plates the same as the ones with the reed valves in & swapped them. I think I used a bit of old Land Rover & an angle grinder, fitted with the original rubber seals & threw the rest in a box with bits I'll never refit.

A quick way I thought (after removing your tank) was to remove all the reed hardware from under the plates, and hoses from them, THEN just reinstall the original plates with 'Vacuum Plugs' AND utilise the original clips / clamps that held the original hoses. Mine is holding and working for me. Cost a couple of dollars for the vacuum plugs from supercheap. :onya:

Sheepy, just blocking hose does exact same, no need for plugs. As far as reeds breaking off, working reeds, always moving, how can there be more chance of them breaking when permantely still?
They'll still move even with the system blocked off, the pressure pulses in the exhaust gases will move them. Plus without the cold air coming through the PAIRs system they'll be hotter which often increases fatigue in the metal.
It's one of the reasons I removed the whole plate & put solid ones in.
