Title: swingarm damage
Post by: insane1400 on Monday, 08 June 2020, 01:55 PM
After cleaning my swingarm I found this.... and no I didnt do it with a grinder.
But seriously, is this something to be concerned with, should it be repaired?
Thanks
Andrew

First things first. I'll do something about the chain (as it looks like that's the culprit). I could be wrong.

They are pretty thick the swing arms but better check for any hairline cracks unseen by the naked eye. Dye penetrant crack finding kits are available out there. Generally starts with a clean, cover with a dye, wait some time, wipe off, and then spray on a treatment that shows any cracks. This type of test is good stuff. Handy kit to have as you can re-use on all welding, metal surface, and joints, etc  :onya:

Its a double sided swingarm - Ducatis can get by with one so you'll be fine! *

* Do NOT take the above advice seriously. :)
