Title: Funny thing happened on OSS
Post by: Blubber on Sunday, 07 June 2020, 10:39 PM
As most of you know this isnt the only internet site available.

It isnt a secret i a am a moderator on another suzuki enthousiast board: oldskoolsuzuki.info.

The focus of that site has been limited to mostly 1980 to 1999 stuff. Injection models like the 1400 were not considered OSS worthy.

That said...

I have been shoving gsx1400 parts in their face since...well forever.  :salute:

There is a increasing numbers of ET / EX and real Katana's who run a gsx1400 swingarms or frontends. Some even used to gsx1400 starter sprag and generator as an improvement.  Using parts of the 1400 is becoming a norm.

Slowly the OSS perception towards the "newer" suzuki models are changing.

It changed that much that my 1400 engined EF made it to bike of the month.. this month (June 2020)

I would like to think that the following had something to do with my bike ... because as of today... tricked out* gsx1400 are allowed on OSS .  :mwink:

*That also means ...The stockers / primers / slower and faster ones are still in the naughty corner...kinda like on here  :stir:

The modified bikes like Kanerdog's, all the 1550cc versions / turbo versions eg @BlackAdder and @Halibag are welcome.(i know we have more )

I am pretty sure eventually stock ones will follow once they see the potentential showed by the modified ones..   in a lustrum or so.

If you feel you need an even bigger audience for your modified 14... give them a try.

Not all of the wierdo's and annoraks over there know this happened so please dont rush over there...unless you feel any attention is good :rofl2:

You will see familiair names.. RickC , kja.Busa and even TonyNitrous is there.

@vlad ... If you feel this is a blantent plug .. just remove it.

I was a member on the original OSS forum. When it disappeared I joined the new one. It's a shame that so much of the original site and posts were lost. I had a lot of stuff on there.
I just logged in and had a quick look around :onya:

I've been a member the old oss site for years .
I always wondered why the gsx1400 wasn't allowed and the bandit was .
Anyway good to see times moving forward .
I do pop on there every now and then but not in a while .
Your efe1400 is coming along nicely .
And I'm still trying to sort getting our throttle bodies bored out and sorted .

Times are indeed changing but not very fast.

The 14 is currently only allowed in modified form.
It is nice to see it has progressed from tolerated to welcomed. Only took 5 years  :rofl2:

Stockers are still considered donor bikes...just like a stock bandit. What helps the 14 is discontinued  more than a decade ago.

No rush Seth,  this is a long term project  ;)

I've never really been able to follow the oss forum very well probably why I didn't go there much it's not as easy to follow or search as here.
Mine seams to be a long term project too.
But good news is I think my workshop might be getting built sooner than I thought so hopefully then I can find everything and get back to building the gsx again .

Blatant plug?  Yep.

Remove it? Nope. :)

Maybe you could make a post over there saying for those with more standard GSX1400s refer them back to here?
