Poor bike hasn't run for a couple of months, I'm thinking I should change the oil next weekend...
I was thinking I should do it cold.
I'd guess the oil has drained down as much as it's going to by now, and I can leave it a couple of days with the sump plug out to drain the dregs.
Any thoughts, should I warm it up first?
Warm up it first. So you can get all sludge and condense water out with oil.
I do mine warm because I have a wee tap instead of a sump plug

Yep, didn't think of that. Warm it is :onya:
Best if you can do it when the bikes nice and hot
I run the bike long enough for the oil cooler to be warm to the touch. Any hotter & you burn your fingers when you drop the sump plug in the hot oil after putting them on the hot sump as you took the plug out.

Always warm your oil first, then burn yourself on the hot pipes. Job done. No pain, no gain!! ;)
I do the same, just to warm up oil etc. I also make a funnel out of alfoil to cover the top of my 4-1 headers and direct the flow into the drain tin sooner than have it pour over the headers/collector. I always disconnect the kerb side oil cooler hose to access the filter. I let it drain overnight also.

That's if it's still there after hitting that speed hump.

I quite like the Stahlbus version of this, but it's a tad pricey, looks to be a bit lower profile too?

Would I be right in saying 22mm long.
I cant remember size of thread.
GSX, i know your alfoil funnel works and is cheap but spend $30, Ryco flexi funnel, brilliant thing to have in tool kit.

Looks like a sheepee for bikes :whistling:
I have a 'somewhat worse for wear' specimen on my work bench, I'll measure it tonight, beer permitting . . .

Looks like a great idea particularly in application shown where drain of sump. BUT as it relies on being able to plug the hose to it, that may not be readily possible depending on after market exhaust placement etc.
It does get around the apparent risk inherent in potentially stripping the thread from the hole etc when reinstalling sump plug each time.

Just been out for a look & it' appears it has met it's fate some time previous as it's now gone. but I think it'd be about 30mm hanging down (that's on a good day!)
28.575 mm after screwed in.
Approximately anyway :whistling:
So it's about a quarter of an inch longer.
Hooli, yeah just a rough measure. Just what web site dimensions said.
