Hi all, hope everyone is safe and well.
I'm thinking of changing my bars and I've noticed a few of you have renthal.
I'm looking at ultra low 758-01-GO.
But wondering if they're comfortable and have a good feel.
Ideally it would be good to try a bike with them fitted but that's not gonna happen too soon.
Anyone got any recommendations without breaking the bank?
All the best
Paul.
the 758 is the bars I always choose - had on 14 my ZRX and there on my bandit
I have Renthal 789 and I like it.
I've done over 140k on 758s, I wouldn't change them on a 14.
What's the standard width height and sweep for a 1400, has it changed over the years.

Not sure on the original bars, I've seen it somewhere but can't find it.
I think you need the original specs or you have to buy or borrow different bars, I notice Del has same bars on three different bikes, did they all have the same bars standard :confused1:
Maybe it's just me with a boring standard 14 with full Givi touring gear and heated handlebar grips.
I can't stand the standard bars on 14s, the sweepback gives me cramp at the base of my neck in line with my shoulders & the bars flex so much it's like steering with jelly.

If you look at the chart picture in that link Andy, you'll see I added the dimensions of the standard bars for comparison :onya:
Like you I hated the standard bars sweepback, used to make my wrists ache from the odd angle - personally i found the 758's twinned with 46mm Oberon risers to give me a similar height, but a much preferable (and comfortable) sweep.
So the 758 have the least sweep but are lower than original, I now see it in chart Mr. Barmy :onya:
Nothing wrong with standard bars after 19 years why would I change them ???????? :stir: :stir: :stir:
Yeah, standard bars i like. Never caused any aches or pains. Hooli, flexing, ive never noticed or thought of that. Have never tried anything else so i dont know the difference. Maybe i should, only $80 local. Thats 758 , i have some 30mm risers so could experiment. Stock bars with risers were just terrible.
I've got a set of Renthal 758's hanging in the shed that won't be used while the far superior Pro Taper's are on the bike.
I wish I had of known Snapey I just bought a set of 758s to replace the original slightly bent set.

Did you get a 1400.
758's on mine as well, came on the bike when I bought it. They give me a comfortable ride ,no aches and pains . My height(5'10)and reach just seems right for the bars. :riding: :boogie2:
Tonight, after discussion, took particular notice of my standard bars. they just work for me. My seat is a fair bit lower so maybe thats why. As far as flexing/bending, i tried hard but beyond my strength. :hat:

I only feel it when I hit mid bend bumps when 'making progress'. But having ridden 14s back to back on the same trip with standard & Renthals I did notice it. Renthals feel just as flexy to me without their brace too.

yeah me too, it was a real annoyance with the bike. The renthals were a revelation and I suddenly loved riding the bike for a distance...
Got a Renthal bar on mine too. Rides perfectly. Removed the brace - no difference and no flexing even under heavy braking. Much better for long rides than standards :onya:
I never even noticed the bar angle until you bastards started dissing the standards, I've got risers on but I'm 6'4" and like the extra height to match my 50 mm taller seat, made a mental note to notice the angle today but forgot all about it once I started riding,so must be all good for me
