Has anyone tried them, thoughts.
My knees are giving me grief.
Getting a raised seat is one option, perhaps another is these things.
A little lower and more forward might make the difference I need.
I'm willing to sacrifice a little ground clearance for greater comfort.
I'm not a knee down kind of guy.
I've seen these and thought about trying them, would be interested to know if they are any good as well, my knees give me grief, I'm 6'6" that doesn't help...
Ive not used them but I have used the Buell ones on my 12r - just google Buell Footpeg mod - this is one from a busa
they weren't that expensive when I got them but it was a few years ago
the how too for the Kawa
Hi All
Some members on here suffer from bad knees and or bad backs this modification results is about an inch down and an inch back in the foot pegs
The modification is fairly easy with just a bit of fettling with a file to get to fit .Takes about an hour.
Basically you have have to modify the Buell pegs three ways. Once you get them and try to fit them, you'll see exactly what you have to do.
1. File/grind the part of the peg that slides into the mount. It is too thick by a few millimeters. I had a rough metal file that took the metal away quickly by laying the file on a flat surface, then pushing the peg across it.
2. File/grind the part of the peg that rests against the inside of the mount. This is hard to describe, but it's the part of the peg that's vertical and bears your weight when you press down on the peg. If you don't do this, the peg won't sit flat in the mount, but will be tilted up a bit. Again, it becomes very apparent when you see it. I used the same filing/grinding method and it took about 10 seconds to get it right.
3. The hole for the pin that holds the peg on is too small. Make it bigger. I used a stepped drill bit to enlarge the whole, then a regular drill bit to clear the last bit that the stepped bit couldn't get. Again, took all of a few seconds.
Once the pegs are mounted, you'll have to adjust the shift and brake levers to your liking which is very easy to do.
Part Numbers are as N0006.1AD is a kit, specifically a pair of XB footpegs.
+ N0520.1AD FOOTPEG ASSEMBLY, RIDER, LH,
+ N0521.1AD FOOTPEG ASSEMBLY, RIDER, RH,
I think this is the XB Lightning model http://www.westcoastharley-davidson.co.uk/cart/Partsview.asp?ID_Part=36830
That's a good concise set of directions, replacement pegs on eBay are around 50 oz plus postage.
Will do a bit more visualising.
Had a quick look before heading to work today and I'm worried how it will clear the gear lever.
keep on this one Dave, very interested as my hips cramp up. lets know your results. i didnt even know peg extenders available.
double post, sorry. just wondering how gear lever and brake pedal are modified to work with extended pegs.
I had a good look at the bike today, I don't think it will be possible to mount a lowering peg on the gear lever side of the bike.
A lowered peg will found the sidestand and also the exhaust.
Back to the drawing board.
DaveH you UK or oz ?
I getting old and forget,
Straya mate.
Not local then hahaha shame I got a pair of them buell pegs but would cost a fortune to post to you :-(

You'd be surprised at actually how not so expensive it is Taz - look on www.parcel2go.com, TNT generally do quite a surprisingly good rate....
Your second in line shorty !! I mean tallman hahahaha
I'll pas Taz, I like a rubber foot peg, not a fan of bare metal.
Let us know how you get on with them T Man.

I've fitted Oberon studded pegs and I love 'em...
Still need a higher seat as even though I'm only 5' 7" I steel feel cramped up riding.
Home made stainles steel extenders for passenger..
Nice job, do you have them on the riders as well?

Received fom TAZ & fitted but I cant try them yet as the bike is undergoing general maintenance at the mo but TAZ can tell you his thoughts on them as we are both similar in size 6'5" - 6'6"

I can see the missus would be happy with extenders on the passenger pegs, but as for the riders pegs - they are low enough already to be a pain when cranked over a bit, I cannot imagine them being any lower !

I'm not that guy.
I'm a bit old and sore in the knees. Very interested in this idea, especially the following:

The fitting and modifications are no drama as I enjoy tinkering.
Now I've done the google search and it seems they are overseas etc (I'm Brisbane) and the postage is more than the product. Sucks.
Before I decide to even pull the trigger, are there any here in Aussie that people know about or is anyone overseas heading down under soon? :)

^ What him said ! ^
The Buell peg mod is quite common on the Hayabusa and B-Kings but the pegs on the GSX14 already touch down easier than either of those.
anyone anymore info on these footrests??? another option :undecided: :undecided:
I gave up in the end, I could not see how the peg would clear the gear lever pivot, I think it was sitting here in the lounge trying to visualise it.
I've since started doing 20 squats each day as well as trying to drop my arse to the floor with my feet flat on the ground, as a stretch.
It's taking time but seems to be helping.
It was pointed out to me that when we have trouble with things we try to change everything but ourselves,
and that in reality it's only ourselves we have any control over.
It's a work in progress.😳

I just had a look at mine.
When my side stand is up its right up under the stock L/H peg already.
I knew it was something.
OK, I get the picture.
I'm too old for squats.
But I love the bike.
Maybe knee surgery!
I'll have to rethink this.
do not have knee surgery in my oppinion, i am totaly f/broken on my right leg following a full rep, i had a partial rep on my left ,thats fine, but the full after 50 miles goes dead cant use the rear brake, NOT GOOD ON A FAT 14???. thats just my oppinion, :bugga:
I agree that as standard IMO the 14 is not generally a good riding position - tried everything on mine to improve it to no avail due to my back and neck issues and operations - hence why I now have a Triumph Explorer which has a much better and comfortable riding position - for me. Didn't want to sell my 14, as absolutely loved it, but it was either be crippled over time or sell the 14 and buy a machine which would not cause me issues. With the Tex, I don't even have to wear a back brace now, that's how much better it worked out for me.
Wife has knee issues, and has found the better pillion riding position of the Tex suits her also over the 14.
The 14 is a great bike, but for me, and on the advice of my consultant, I had 2 choices. Stop riding completely or sell the 14 and get something more appropriate to my medical condition. Either way meant selling my beloved 14, but I now have a new lease of life enjoying riding bikes again, and have done more miles in the last 9 months than in the last 5 years with my 14.

How old are you, I'm 51 this year.
You don't have to do a million, start with five, work up slowly.
