Any recommendations on warm but not too bulky gloves. Gauntlet style, new jacket has stupid do up velcro straps, want some that just go over sleeve without doing straps up.

I've had a winter pair for years they only get used for maybe two weeks per year.

Do you wear your fluffy slippers with them :stir:
Yeah Notty, get a few months where mornings down to 4-6. I live just below mountain range, warms up as i get closer to coast.
I like those gauntlet style gloves Notty. My hands get cold and numb in the winter these days.
I suppose it depends on the mileage being covered, but I`d start at heated grips and a good pair of leather winter lined gloves, plus a pair of lightweight waterproof over mittens for the cold wet days. Keep `em under the seat as a precaution.
Thanks fellas. I have already 3 pairs of winter gloves. Not cold enough for heated grips. Basically looking for some that have wide opening for sleeve to fit in without doing up sleeve straps, they are a pain. Will go to bike clothing shop and try.
Picked these up the other day as my 8yo winter gloves had split on both hands at index finger and were letting water in. Tried them out today, was about 11-12 deg including wind chill, no probs at all, nice warm hands and no cramps in thumbs as i normally get. Went well with the pussy grips too.
Gauntlet is good, not too long and inner wrist elastic seems to seal nice but not too tight. Together with my new winter touring jacket i was able to get the jacket sleeves over the gauntlet so no cold air leaking in.
Pretty good value for AUD 199

Ha just saw this after my post. Agree, good gloves.
Winter coming, not super cold here but down to 4 some mornings. Need new long cuff gloves, not heated type.Less bulky the better, your choices Gentlemen?

I use this type Grog - still able to use 2 finger braking and keeps fingers warm.
@Notty he's in Australia not Antarctica
Surely we are missing a trick here - spring is about to well, spring up here.
How about we Europeans all post our winter gloves down to our antipodean friends in return for thier summer ones?
Our glove buying budgets would be halved in an instant allowing more cash for beer, loose women or Morris dancing costumes depending on how you spend the rest of your leisure time.

Ok, I'm starting a winter-summer courier business, will be a captive market. You glove buying budget will be converted to a postage budget
I've got some cheapy RST ones, couldn't tell you the name but they were about £35 up here & work fine. I normally hate winter gloves as they are too bulky to ride in.
Actually this reminds me, I need to look for summer gloves as the palms are starting to wear out on mine.
:frustrated:

These may suit Mr. Grog, especially for Qld winters where the temp drops to a chilly +22 most days...
They are a long cuff glove

Notty, they look like they've been wrested off some cloven hoof animal, not your Dolly I hope?
@grog I can check mine when I get home tonight if you want.

If you saw Australia Post's rates you would quickly realise buying a whole set of gloves is almost cheaper.

Just wondering if anyone would be buying less than a whole set of gloves ?

A 1 arm bandit maybe? . . .
My answer to new gloves was easy. Wife found two pairs id already bought, Summer and Winter. Stored away in cupboard, brand new, unopened. Such a great memory i have.
Will you be wearing both pairs at the same time given the extreme winter conditions in Queensland? Or a summer glove on one hand, winter on the other, depending on what side the sun is shining? :stir:
Eric, we do get cold, 2 degrees once. Often 6 thru Winter, im away from Coast. Cold enough for me. No way i could do the cold where some on here live. This morn was 16, enjoyable, still Summer jacket.28 today but cooler now.
Just stirring grog, I lived in Gladstone for a year, was bliss compared to Melbourne weather wise.
Now in WA loving the Mediterranean climate, still gets cold in winter, single digits early mornings.
I will post a pic of the long gauntlet gloves I use, they're not too thick to keep dexterity, but definitely warm enough
@grog was going to load new photos then saw that I had already done last time. These gloves performed really well last winter. Love the double cuff, no water runoff gets in.
Eric, 5 gloves seem to be the best, get good reviews everywhere. Now that i found my new/ old pair, reckon im set for this year.
I bought a pair years ago from a little back of house shop in Toodyay Western Australia. My winter gloves had given out after a few years and I had stopped at a cafe for breakfast when I noticed the motorcycle vests displayed next door and after breakfast perused their wears. It turned out they made their own gloves so I bought a new pair of winter gloves. That was around 2009 and I still use them now. Excellent gloves but the store is no longer there sadly.
There's a similar shop in Dwellingup I think

Oh no, that means taking the back roads on some lovely winding bends, the things we are forced to endure!

Son has been up from Lumsden, he's heading back tomorrow. Mount Maunganui main beach, photo taken from the Mount base track midday today. 14 degrees at 7.50pm...... but firewood is stacked ready to go sometime soon.
I ordered some new RST Blade summer gloves last night, they'll probably get used almost all winter too. I rarely ride in winter gloves.
