Because of the lockdown bike has not been run for around 4 weeks started her up today for a ride round the yard clutch bite point seems very near the bars to previous, fluid level ok tried the 4 lever adjustments roughly about an inch movement and then clutch comes in smooth enough just could do with a bit more travel any suggestions? Thanks
That bite point sounds fine, don't worry about it.
Bleed it, it's an easy job & always makes the clutch nicer to use.
Cos its a hydraulic clutch you cant change the "bite" or take up point. All you can do is service the master and slave cylinders, ensure youve got no air in the system and do the slave seal mod thats suggested on here to keep the crud out, oh and upgrade to braided stainless for much better feel if you haven't already.
Pretty much what you said Eric. Ive never had a prob with Master or Slave. Not sure how braided hose makes it better, one of the best clutches ive ever had. Clean fluid and clean Slave 👍
Fully agreed suzuki got it right with the clutch on the 1400. IMHO a braided line flexes or expands less than a rubber one, so more of the fluids volume from the master cylinder is exerted on the slave cylinder rather than going to waste on filling an increased volume in an expanding hose, meaning the slave cylinder is fully extended, so no clutch grab or drag.
But of course, rubber hoses are internally braided so don't expand anyway. Don't believe me? try cutting one.
