Title: Tune up order of tasks
Post by: BJ on Monday, 06 April 2020, 09:53 AM
To those with the knowledge - tasks, in order, to do a relatively complete tuneup.
I am particularly interested in the MUST do order of 3 4 & 5.
Have I got this right?
Anything else that should be included?
1 - Valves - Cold Bike
2 - Cable adjustment
3 - Throttle body sync - Warmed up bike
4 - STPS check
5 - TPS check
6 - Throttle reset
Many thanks

Looks right. You're correct you have to do 4 & 5 after 3, I can't recall if the order you do 4 & 5 in matters though.

What's 6?

electronic reset (to make the ECU relearn the throttle positions):
1. Disconnect the negative on the battery
2. Turn ignition on for a few minutes, then off again
3. Reconnect the negative on the battery
4. Turn ignition on
5. Open and close the throttle all the way a couple times
6. Start the engine without moving the throttle

Never heard of that on these before, I didn't think it'd be needed as they aren't learning ECUs.

I mentioned it here before. Got it from a fellow 14 guy who is a mechanic and stated that he is well versed in fuel injection. Just took his word and experiences of others applying this method for truth. Whatever, it's easy and won't hurt. Worth a try imo.

Aye can't hurt, I just don't think 14s are advanced enough to need it.

Works on Triumphs but they do have learning ECU's, didn't think the Suzi was that far advanced.
