Looking into the issue mate - could you perhaps try again with a larger image see how you go?

Yeah attachments are not the ideal way to go because they always thumbnail and it doesn't give that nice flowing impression a larger image would give in a post.
Have a fiddle with the new gallery option and tell me what you reckon.
