My mate Dan was riding down near Grafton somewhere. He is a good rider and was doing 60 in an 80 zone. The roads had ash on them making them extremely slippery and he lost traction. When the bike regained traction it high sided him something fierce.
He has 7-9 right rib fractures, fracture T1, pneumothorax?, gravel rash and bruises. He was wearing full leathers and still got gravel rash so.. yeah without that he'd have been fucked.
He was unconscious until the ambos arrived 30 minutes after the crash. The ambos cut off his riding jeans and leather jacket. He was in Grafton ICU for 2 days slathered in fentanyl patches for the pain. He's a nurse so was no doubt telling them what to give him / arguing if they wouldn't.
The bike is a write off, but luckily it's only a Ninja 1000 so no real loss :D
He's thinking of replacing it with an 800c ish adventure bike, probably a BMW. Sook.
So yeah unless rains have been through to thoroughly wash down the roads take it real EASY where fires have been through. :onya:
That's a pisser, best of luck to your mate Dan, even though he has poor taste in bikes at least he rides. Take it easy down there until the roads are clear.
Thats a bummer ! glad he will be ok - just glad it wasn't a 14 that was totalled ! :bugga:
