Title: New battery price
Post by: seth on Tuesday, 31 December 2019, 02:08 AM
Ok I've seen all the battery threads so what I'm needing to know is where can I get a replacement Hausa standard battery at the best price in the UK.
(I figure 15 years out the original has done well enough to replace with the same again) .
Cheers all

The original Yuasa batterys were great quality, however, I found the newer ones to be not as reliable & had 1 die after 18 months.  Grog put me onto a Gel battery that has great cca. Yuasa stated as 200cca & these gel ones stated at 270cca, test on Yuasa showed 210cca from new & the gel one at 320cca (from memory) Grog's one was 370cca!   Unfortunately, I can't recall the brand & am away on holiday so can't go out n check.

@grog

I don't think the battery Grog mentioned can be had in Europe.

I got Yuasa 200 CCA with acid pack for 57€ (49 GBP), shipping included. OK, not in UK. Just to give a reference price wise.

There is also a YUASA 240 CCA for the 14. But it is prefilled. I don't like these because one never knows how long this has been sitting on dealer's shelf. That's not a concern for those with acid pack.

I just bought one from Halfords, if you order the oem one you get a  "new " battery which was filled potentially months ago.
If you order the 240ah version it will be not be in stock at a store and will be filled when you order and shipped for you to collect.
I just bought one using my Halfords trade card at this price. Took about 4 days to arrive.

For info the oem one costs £51.20 at Halfords  - 240 ah is as below

Product Code   Product   Qty   Total
239829   YTX14H-BS High Per Batt   1   £62.40
VAT Amount   £10.40
Total   £62.40
VISADEBIT   £62.40

I agree guys, its the best way forward - I did the same last summer. Although its easy enough to find a cheaper alternative equivalent battery `on-line`, its a real pain to actually get one delivered to a private address nowadays due to the postal restrictions on batteries. I know it depends on whether its gel or acid filled or whether a seperate acid pack is shipped etc, but at the end of the day i`d rather spend another tenner and get one from a local supplier, easier for returns too in the event of a bad `un.......

Just reminds me. Doesn't the UK have this anti-acid-pack law in place to avoid acid attacks?

I wonder do you actually need a trade card to collect stuff you have reserved online?
I've reserved plenty of things with my trade card online and have gone in and collected it ,no questions or ID needed.
Now I'm in Ireland so not sure how it works with the uk

Thanks very much for that offer @Chrisl
I've got one com8ng to my local Halfords using my 10%AA discount not quite as good as you get but ok .
And belive it or not they had a 240amp one on the shelf but it was activated in May so I'm getting a brand new one from them next week .
