I just saved £263 on my car insurance, which reminded me to look at my bike policy and I'm ok it's not due until Jan 2020, and I'm wondering can I get it lower than the £74.48 p,fully comp I'm paying this year, let's hope so!.
That's pretty good the equivalent to 145 AUD then there is green slip on top of that about 400 AUD then rego 120AUD.
Aussie's are you reading this.
@ Irish , what does a green slip and rego refer to?. I'm guessing mot and road tax equivalent ?.
Tally, the Green Slip is a third party cover for personal injury to your passengers and pedestrians, rego is road tax.
So Aussie road tax is about 60 quid, the third party cover is about 200 quid, the comprehensive cover is about 150 quid.
Leave you all to Tally it up.
It's about NZD$1000 - $1100 for Rego (road tax & ACC) & Full Comp bike Ins here. About $550 each.
Col
NZ is probably dearer than Oz, I expected that.
Based on Oz Insurance $300 plus $120 Rego plus Compulsory Green Slip $400 = $820 or 400 GBP.
I did quick calculation Tally is up for 150 AUD Insurance plus 160 AUD Rego = 310 AUD on the road.

He's a lucky boy then, wish we had it for that price.
Yep bloody expensive here. Like Col says $550 rego/acc but l pay a little less for my insurance at $470.00.
Well !!! My insurance is £70 fully comp ,cheaper than last year a whole £4 cheaper, and that's a renewal quote from the company I'm currently with. Comparing all the markets available no-one comes close , so I guess I don't have to do anything at all, just sit back and relax knowing my wallets not being robbed this year. Happy new year :boogie: :boogie: :smitten:
In my experience, every written renewal quote is significantly higher that in the previous year, at my last renewal they wanted 24.5 per cent more :furious:, when nothing had changed! For that reason I always call them, and for the sake of 5 mins on the phone i get it for either the same as last year or slightly cheaper!! Works every time.
A tip is to re insure 20-26 days prior to your renewal date in the UK because that is the time period when the most number of insurers will be prepared to provide a quote through your broker, therefore the competition for your business is at its greatest.
Its surprising the number of people i talk to who don`t verbally challenge their insurers over renewal quotes, and the insurers luv `em!
Renewal was £149 so got it down to £84 from Bennetts with protected NCD (11 Years) :)
Not bad notty ,not bad at all especially as it's from Bennetts, I chucked them in because they wanted silly money. Mine at the mo is £70fc,also 11yrs NCB(protected). :smitten:
Just had a renewal quote for my bike for 2021 . It was £70 fully comp for 2020, my quote this time a princely sum of £50,21p . They asked would I like to pay monthly ( :rofl2:), I said no , i think I can manage to pay annually this year. I'm going to see if devitts who I'm currently with can beat it, I don't hold out much hope though. :notworthy:
Are you all saying per month - here it about $1000 Canadian and if your a new drive you might be looking at 3K/a
@Globalrider , the quote is £50,21p for the year, less than a pound a week and that's with 10yrs no claims discount (NCD), fully comprehensive cover and other additions, quoted by Carole Nash insurance. :boogie2:
So... how is it that your insurance is so cheap over there?
What value are your bikes insured for?
From what I gather the rate of bike theft (well, of 1400's at least) is higher there than here....
We're not a nation of criminals? :stir:

Well I have to say that's always been my experience until this year. I have my car insured with Lloyds as they were the cheapest last year. I got my renewal quote (due Dec. 22nd) and it's £20 cheaper than last year and I can't find anything within £40 to match it. Bike insurance with Bennett's for £75 (due Feb 2021 for renewal) fully comprehensive with zero no claims discount, hadn't insured a bike for 10 years. Would be happy if that is the same as I thought it was very inexpensive at the time.
@VladTepes , my bike for insurance valuation is £5k and our insurance cover is divided into 3 categories
1 fully comprehensive
2 third party fire&theft
3 third party only
( notes: third party relates to the insurance company)
When applying for cover you answer all the usual questions (to long to list), then you get questions which are optional , I.e pillion delete, additional legal cover, clothing, helmet and boots, breakdown cover so on and so forth which will bring down your costs. The biggest advantage is your No Claims Discount (NCD) which works from your second year . Each year you go without making a claim is added as a bonus to your renewal for the next year meaning it comes down in price, most insurance providers add this up to 9yrs on the forms but you still add them on ( I'm on 10+now hence mine is £50,21p hope this helps.

So, let's see... you sent all your criminals (bread stealers and so on) to a country with sun, surf, wide open spaces, mild winters, beautiful scenery, deserts, rainforest, reefs...
Meanwhile you stay at home drenched with rain or shivering in the snow and unable to ride bikes for a chunk of the year.
How's that working out for you?
Vlad you forgot the cuddly Strayan wildlife.

Great thanks, we don't have evilly hot temperatures that stop you riding bikes most of the year (anything over 25c in the shade), we've got wildlife that doesn't try to kill us & don't have to drink Fosters.
No one drinks Fosters in Oz. Its all exported. Victoria Bitter is our fave beer, its crap.

We only started to dump our undesirables in Australia when America closed the doors, so you were actually our second choice. :whistling:
My family moved to Australia in 1965 from Liverpool, Mum and Dad travelled as skilled migrants on ten pound tickets. "Ten pound Poms" Best money ever spent I think. I've been to visit the UK a few times and it's a great place for a holiday.
@GSXKING Is that why you have that funny accent.
YES Jeff it's called an Aussie accent
Devitts couldn't beat my quote from Carole Nash, who managed to beat their original quote of £50,21 down to £47,41, so happy days for me just have to get my bike back together again (weather permitting). :boogie:
It's that time of the year again my insurance is due for renewal.
Carole Nash who I'm currently with asked for a renewal of £92.22, when last year was £47.21, with Zenith.
So on the comparison sites I went and got these quotes. :computer_type:
3 quotes ranging from £85-£72.
Asda £62.
All quoting Zenith as their cheapest insurers. :confused1:
I am currently waiting on be-moto to e-mail me so I can negotiate with them.
Lastly I'm going to speak with Carole Nash directly to see if they can match last years quote.
On a sidebar as of 1/1/2022 insurance companies now by law have to offer you a like for like quote as if you were a new customer, they can no longer sneak in higher quotes hoping you won't notice. :boogie2:
You`re right to talk to your insurer directly, it usually makes all the difference.
Personally i`ve read on many occasions that folk are getting super cheap insurance, which we could all do in point of fact. However, if, like me, breakdown cover is essential together with one or two other add-ons, then a 14`s insurance is always going to be 80-odd quid and more, even for us older riders. Cheapest isn`t always the best. Whatever truly suits your own needs is the only way to go. :onya:
A fair bit cheaper than here.
All sorted @£82.31,fully comp 13yrs NCD. I was hoping I could get it cheaper but as the broker said since the new law came into effect all insurance companies are starting on a level playing field, no more new customer discounts a loyal customer must be treated the same as new, prices have to start somewhere so not too bad after all.
Am always amazed at what people pay for Insurance and are u always up front because any time i am on a comparison website and mention Modified or changed from Factory the jobs Fucked!! :confused1:
@seth . I've re-insured with Carole Nash for this year. @big geordi try be-moto as they are more than happy to insure modded bikes.
I'm currently with MCE as they cover all mods except turbo's and supercharger .
But I don't know what will happen when renewal comes as MCE looking a bit dodgy going forward .
So will need to start shopping around again. 😱
Just renewed my insurance again, staying with Carole Nash for the princely sum of £113 fully comp. comparison websites could only beat it by a couple of quid so not worth the effort of starting over with someone new. Now up to 14yrs NCD, happy days. :boogie:
Done mine today through bikesure,,,£77.60p ,,be moto had gone up considerably so had a swap over,,that's 5* defacto rated as well ..
All this talk has left me most dischuffed.
Last month I had to pay about £435.00 (Bemoto) for a rider policy covering my four bikes.
I did go back to Carole Nash for a comparison quote and that was £100.00 more.
Looking at what you guys are getting I'm wondering if I should be looking to insure them separately. I keep being told that a multi-bike policy saves money, but it's starting to look like I'm being sold a dummy.
The only thing I can think of is that if my garage caught fire and there was a total loss the combined value is £20-25k. Otherwise my licence is almost a virgin and I don't live in a war zone or anything. I do declare a good chunk of milage to cover the trips abroad, 10,000 p.a. across all bikes is 'fessed up to, perhaps that's what is ballooning my premium?
I have 5 bike insured with BeMoto who are consistently the best deal for me. 3 Bikes including my 14 are on 1 policy but the other 2 are on individual policy's as that was the best deal at the time and BeMoto took care of it all for me. As in all years I will shop around once I get my renewal from BeMoto but It wouldn't surprise me if they were not still the best deal.
Bike insured with Carole Nash again £90 all in + fully comp ,17yrs NCB.
This year's renewal came in about £50.00 down from last year but selling on the Z1300 and dropping from four bikes to three may have been a factor.
Still working out at about £125.00 per bike though, so I think I'm still not getting the best deal around.

Totally depends on what extra's if any you get with your policy, my experience in the past is that the cheapest polices come without cover for riding gear, accessories etc and quite often have hidden surprises in the small print. One I found last year was that a disc lock needed to be fitted at all times including when parked at home in a secure garage, the policy was null & void if this wasn't upheld, no mention of this on the phone when taking out the policy though!
Just renewed my 14 insurance again £86 fully comp, protected no claims etc,,that's through mcn compare....
I pay a bit over $2000 a year and have done for a while.
That's about £1000 / year.
My 14 is possibly the lowest value / performance.
Mine is for several bikes, all over 1000cc.
All agreed valuation.
All mods listed and covered.
Rider and pillions gear covered.
Covered if stored / unregistered.
Option to buy back any salvage.
Interestingly (to me) riding in a 3 year old H2 SX SE and riding out a new Gen-3 Busa at a dealers, both bikes had similar performance, both bikes had a similar value, when I swapped over the insurance they sent me a $70 refund difference for being a lower risk.
