Title: 2019 Season Wrap up and looking to 2020
Post by: VladTepes on Monday, 18 November 2019, 01:46 PM
JL was a champ, but JL is not as good now as JL was.  Farewell Jorge. :hat:

Similarly VR was a champ. absolutely brilliant rider, but VR now is not as good as VR was.
(I think Rossi may be thinking he should have retired at the end of this year rather than next)

It's impossible to say whether MM, JL, VR, Stoner, Doohan etc were better in each of their best years than one or another, but decisions are made in the here and now.

And now, right now, the man to beat is Marc Marquez.

And there are young blokes capable of doing it too, so long as they can be given a bike up to the Honda.

Jack Miller is looking better and better. He's really matured as a rider and his ability is clear. The fact he keeps putting that Pramac Ducati in front of the factory bikes no doubt irks the factory team more than a bit.

Ducati did the right thing, at the time, in hiring Petrrucci rather than Miller into the factory team. They really had no option based on pure form. However, Jack has been riding better since then, and in the long term I think they'd have been better off signing Jack.   But for now Jack is probably happy on 'the fastest Ducati'

I'm just super peeved now it's off-season. No decent sport on TV until 8 March 2020.

JL suffered a lot of mental issues after more than one serious off and in the MotoGP game fear can't be in the front of your mind I am sure. He has had a distinguished career and I would love to be able to ride at 5% of his riding skill level.  :notworthy: :notworthy: I hope he enjoys retirement at such an early age  :onya: :onya:

I thought Jorge might be dogging it and getting race fit for next year, I guess that spiral fracture was more than he could recover from.
Excellent season from Marquez on a bike nobody else can compete on.
I still think Miller was the better choice for Ducati as Petrucci struggles to be competitive regularly but if both teams are getting factory support he should be okay.
Rossi is still holding a Factory seat and performing woefully, he should have retired after he left Ducati.
Quatararo has been good to watch and I hope he can continue the form into next season, he should be in Rossi's seat.
