Title: Editing posts
Post by: seth on Sunday, 17 November 2019, 09:02 AM
I tried to edit a post I made tonight and the edit button is missing from the posts.
Is there a problem that's causing this ?

Thanks

Nope.

Following the recent restore, we are making some changes to the forum for security reasons.

Once you have posted a thread you will only have a short time period to edit it after it has been submitted, after that the modify option will no longer be available.

I posted tonight, wrong pic. I still wish we had a modify/delete option.

This was only a very short time after posting.
With my spelling I'll need to be able to edit a post for a little while after or they'll make even less sense than they used to .

:frustrated:

Hate to be a pain but if its my post, surely i can change it. I would like that option.

Just about all the other forums I'm on only have less than a 15 minute window to edit, after that it's tough shit.

We are still adjusting this so the future approach will be to allow a short time for the post to be amended and @VladTepes is looking at how this can be achieved.

Please give us the time to make these adjustments!

I typed the following

'<This post has been edited>' then enclosed it in italic tags just to see what reaction it got, but don' tell everyone you'll ruin it.

Yeah as explained I'm looking into better ways to do things.

It's on the list - but it's not top of the list I'm afraid :)

TOP TIP: Read through it again before you click the post button. If OCD forces you to click a button use the Preview one

Only in this area of >>Report Problems<<. Maybe some others. I think was always so.

Yeah, I'll get around to sorting the edit thing lads, just been flat out.

'Like' is only missing in some forums, like this one (see what I did there)

OK then.

In theory now, posts should be able to be edited for up to 3 hours from the time they are initially posted.

Give it a try below and tell me if it works.
Cheers

Ok please test again - perhaps in the test section would be a good place - in THEORY you should be able to make a post. And edit that post within 30 minutes, (so try after 10, say) and after 30 minutes you should NOT be able to edit the post.

The number can be adjusted later, I'm just wanting to know if it actually works as above.

Please test in 'test' forum and report back here with results.  Ta muchly.

I've tested, I could edit up to 30mins after posting.

Looking back nearly an hour later the modify button had gone. Looks like you've sorted it Vlad  :onya:
