Title: Question for the POD filter users
Post by: Blubber on Wednesday, 16 October 2019, 08:48 PM
Hello,

On my EFE project i am running a 14 engine with 4 pod filters from RamAir. ( No trumpets or induction tubes,  just filters )

The "issue" i have is that the fast idle function is not working as intended.

i have no FI alarmcodes showing.

So far and for various reasons:

replaced the fuel pump,
replaced the air intake temperatur sensor with a new one,
replaced the complete trottle bodies with a low milage K5 version,
set the STPS and TPS to perfection when warm ( on both the previous and the current K5 one ),
replaced the pressure sensor connected to the throttle bodies.
synchronised the butterfly valves,
not replaced the atmospheric pressure sensor,
not swapped the sensors,
i can see the fast idle cam working during the power up fase ( clock sweep )

All of the above have not effected the cold start behaviour.

It does start easy with just one touch of the button; When cold it will idle at 900rpm when warm at 1100rpm ( A/F ratio is normal )

It intrigues me why the cold start behaviour is so different from my stocker  :confused1:

My question to the POD users /people running without an air box:

- Is this behaviour - fast idle not working - something you experienced too?

- And/ or did you have to adjust the fast idle setting?  (Which basicly will be my next step)

Thanks for the replies  :onya:

Unfortunately I just fitted them on my k6 and had no cold running issues before or after it was set up on the dyno .
With no other problems.
I can give you a call if it'll help .

Hi Seth,

Thanks for the offer. There is no need to pick up the phone for this.  :onya:

It's not even a real problem, it just got me wondering how others got along with Pod filters

- Maybe it's more sensor location related?

Where is your atmosheric pressure sensor located?
Where is your intake air temperature located?

Might help me figure out the difference  :worshippy:

A picture of those locations for future reference might help others too  :onya:.

I use only one pod filter, and I dont have any cold idle problems in my 14.
High(cold) idle is adjustable.

The air pressure and air temp senders location.
If any other pictures are required just say as really easy to take the pics just now as the body work is of the bike .
