Title: K6/K7 Shock differences?
Post by: black14 on Monday, 30 September 2019, 10:26 AM
Hi guys,
Was looking to price new shocks and noticed there are 2 different sets of part numbers (and prices) for the K6 and K7 variants.
Anyone know what the differences are please?

A bloody good question - I wasn't aware there was any difference, obviously I'm wrong.

2 of the parts have " assy " in their description, I assume there are more parts supplied I.e. Bushes, bolts or something  :whatever:

As @Bob says it must be assembly of parts rather than individual parts .
The only upgrade/change of shocks happened between the last k4 and the first k5 .
Best way to tell the standard shocks apart is earlier shocks have grey springs and the later shocks have red springs .

Actually, now you mention it Bob, 3 of the parts have "ASSY" in their description!  :confused1:
Usually when it's an "ASSY", there's a line drawn around the "ASSY" with a different part number to the individual parts and they are listed separately - check out the clutch master as an example...
Think I'll give Mick Hone a ring and ask him! :onya:

I did - well dropped Mick an email anyway!

The response - "Obviously the shocks are different but I cannot say how".

He also said "The 62103-42F40 and 62104 42F40  (K6) are not available".

So maybe whatever changed in the K7 version superseded the K6 version.

I'm having the originals rebuilt so won't be losing any sleep over it!
