Title: Clutch master cylinder rebuild kit
Post by: ndp_2010 on Wednesday, 25 September 2019, 06:23 PM
I was wondering if there was any suggestions where the best place to buy a clutch MC rebuild kit? (I am in AUS but overseas suppliers usually not an issue either) I noticed today that the rubber dust boot is completely wrecked on my bike, and I also think the clutch leaver is being pushed too far away from the handle bar in its resting position making it not ideal to reach for during gear changes. I have partially addressed this by getting a new lever that can be adjusted closer to the handlebar but it may then get close to not fully engaging the clutch.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Hi
I am in the UK and most of my parts are bought from Fowlers..
They supply genuine parts very quickly (in the UK)
I cannot tell you if they will post to Australia but the link is below..

I'm same as @Speedy1959 except I use https://www.robinsonsfoundry.co.uk
As we get a 10% discount if you ask the parts guy saying your a member of the gsx1400owners org.
I think there is a different robinson's Suzuki dealer in the northwest of the UK that can give a 15%discount but I have no details .
I have an account with my 10%at the main robinsons in my link .
Good luck

I dunno how you lot wear things out so quick, the most I've ever done to a master cylinder is wipe the sludgey black stuff out the reservoir.

I just bought a genuine Suzuki kit from the local dealer - it was cheaper than buying from ebay or anywhere else I could find.  UK prices on ebay were OK, but once you factored in postage, the local Suzuki dealer was cheaper and genuine parts

Did you have other than standard non-adjustable levers fitted?  OEM ones, both brake & clutch are adjustable.

just non-standard adjustable levers installed on both brake and clutch.

Previous owner didn't know what maintenance was..  Whilst the top of the reservoir - the fluid looked fine - the bottom was a thick sludge.  So I decided to replace all seals with new ones and even though I flushed out the OEM lines with clean fluid, I have now also replaced them with Venhill lines instead. Next stop is the upgrade to the front when I fit up the calipers from a SV1000 and new EBC HH pads and new brake discs as well.

I use this web site to get all the part numbers from

http://www.mickhone.com.au/partFinder/fiche/suzuki/2003/gsx1400#content

My local Suzuki dealer matches the prices on the site...  plus it makes the job easier for the spares guys when I walk in with a list of part names and numbers - they just check it all over and job done, parts ordered.

Yep OEM, but the closest setting was still very far away. My hands aren't small, but now im thinking the state of the master cylinder may be the issue because it doesnt seem right that the lever is so far away.

on emma's gsx1400
I fitted an adjuster from a gsf600 bandit as they have more adjuster positions to her standard gasx1400 clutch lever .
Even then the shortest setting  was a little far so I filed down that face slightly so much better for her shorter fingers/hands.
Hope this helps .
