Title: TCP fork mounted fairing
Post by: Bob on Wednesday, 25 September 2019, 08:49 AM
Does anyone have one or the fitting instructions, just wondering if I have bits missing or just being dumb. I remember NigMoo had one but not sure it he's on here

No idea Bob sorry, but NigMoo not a member, he sold and "left" the old .org long before it crashed.

Can you explain the issue and/post pictures of what bits you do have, they may make sense to someone - a picture paints a thousand words as they say.

@Bob just googled "TCP Holland" and got onto a Yamaha forum where a guy was looking to fit a fairing to an FZ1 but with no fitting kit - apparently he contacted TCP and they sent him fitting instruction https://www.tcpholland.com/indexuk.htm

Just a thought.

Morning Bob
I have a TCP fairing fitted to my 1400.  I fitted it many years ago (12+), and believe it or not I have found the fitting instructions!

What exactly do you need to know?.  The fairing came with the fairing and screen itself, plus two upper brackets and two lower brackets with slightly longer bolts to allow for the brackets to fit to existing fork and clamp bolts.

The fitting instructions are in the form of a multi language instruction booklet.  I'll have a go at splitting the booklet and photocopying it or if you would like to borrow it I would be more than happy to post it to you so long as you return it when you,ve done with it.

I have found the fairing to be excellent with regards to the weather and wind protection, but the headlights are really not very good.

If I can help, PM me with an address and I'll do what I can.

Kindest regards
Chip

Thanks very much Chip, but since reading Barmys post I emailed TCP they mailed the booklet back within 30 mins, hows that for customer  service.  I understand how it fits now, I needed a taller screen as my dog was getting blasted with short one, this should be fine

Hi Dave,

I have sent an e-mail containing the scanned instructions as requested.  I hope they are suitable for your use.  I'm useless with IT so get back to me if I need to do something different!
Regards
Chip

After looking into this thread, I now know what brand my fairing is, it's this one.  You're right about the lights, however I found by putting +130 bulbs in, it's plenty bright enough. Not as wide beam as a bigger internal reflector would be, but very useable I find.

I tried the TCP website in the link, it opens but nothing happens.  Does anyone know is there a variation of screen heights available on these units? I cut a screen down to minimise helmet buffeting & I still have a full height one. A factory job, higher or lower would be worth a look.

Hi Guys.
I was under the impression that the company ceased trading many years ago.  In the instructions (that GSX Barmy is going to put on file), there is a list of spare parts.  However, only one screen is listed, so I suspect they didn't do any larger screens and I don't recall seeing them on the trade stands at the NEC Bike show when they used to have a large display.

I've tried better bulbs - and even LED ones, but I'm still not impressed!  :)
