A big old biffer from back in the day (just like me really). I put the newly painted parts on over the weekend, I think it looks nice in the last of our summer sun.
Waiting for new shocks and a few other bits & pieces, then we are good to go.
Nice bike mate. Top job. They were brilliant bikes.
Great bike, they were the masters of grunt in their day, forks look well lazy by modern standards, it's almost a chopper.
Wow that's looking fantastic
Well done bring it back to what looks like better than new .
A forerunner to many much more modern big yamaha's :onya:

That's a good point. Might explain why it was so popular in the US, where the ability to go round corners wasn't considered as important as it was in Europe.
It'll be interesting to see what it's like on the road. I might have to beef those fork springs up a bit, judging from the alarming dive when you push on them.
Tidy looking XS you've got there
@Mister Fishfinger :onya:
Looking sharp there Fishy, great work. :worshippy:
I can appreciate all the effort you have put in and it does look showroom again. As do a lot of bikes at Laverda Concorse etc. :whatever:
However I just don't get it. My friend says I treat motorcycles like whitegoods i.e. if it lets me down it's gone. :thumbs_down:
:notworthy: :worshippy: :clapping: :onya:
Guess that's why I've hung on to the GSX1400 for 18 years and a lot of other bikes have come and gone. :stir: :stir:

Well I treat them as 2 different things. I bought my GSX1400 because I wanted something reliable and modern-ish to ride round on while I was hacking away in the shed on my project. I just do essential maintenance and cleaning on that.
The restoration thing is like meditation really, I go to the shed and get lost in cleaning up old parts or rebuilding carbs, just me and a radio and a steady supply of tea and biscuits. I don't have to think about work, or politics, or anything at all except the thing I am doing. Other people get the same feeling from golf, fishing, drone flying or any number of things.
Hobbies are good.
I guess we're lucky we get to ride (my meditation) a lot more "Down Under", so not so much time in the shed :stir: :stir:
