I started this year with three bikes in the Garage. An old Royal Enfield Bullet 350, A VFR800 and my GSX1400.
Earlier on in the year some one passing my home saw me cleaning the bikes. He stopped and asked and after a short conversation he offered me a deal that I could not refuse on the Royal Enfield. Today after much soul searching I sold my VFR800.
Nothing unusual there you may think. But I wondered if it is normal to feel sad and a bit full emotionally to wave both bikes goodbye? I can honestly say that I was more chocked up at seeing them go than I was when my ex wife of 27 years left with my best friend. ( I don't know who he is but he's my best friend, if you get my drift)
What I would like to know is, Is this normal to get more upset at seeing the rear lights of my trusty old girls disappear down the road than I did seeing my ex wife's fat ass heading for the horizon?
it's normal, if

I purchase a bike today, from a dude, who ride it 3 times since he get it. He had no regrets, selling it to me, cause he had no time to deal with bike... Seems, like with you, it's other thing around :onya:
It is "normal" to be more upset over a loss of something/someone we are emotionally attached to than to something/someone that you are not as much, if at all, emotionally attached to.
Sounds to me that you were not emotionally attached to the "ex wife's fat ass". May well be that your best friend has done you an ultimate friend's deed by sacrificing his life to take that heavy burden off your shoulders. ;)
Granty, that made me laugh. Made my wife laugh, too. :rofl2:
Granty, sure is normal. I still miss some bikes i sold 30 yrs ago. First wife, never miss that one. Maybe i miss the money that the house she stole would be worth today. Love that car sticker, still miss my ex but my aim is getting better.
I bought a Z1000 brand new in 2005 and sold it a year later after barely using it for a year, I still miss that bike today BUT the sadness is going away nicely since I bought my GSX1400 a few weeks ago because I absolutely LOVE IT...
I miss my 1100 Kat, had it for many years, did many mods, had many adventures.
It was the SD model I wanted and I haven't found the right replacement yet, but I still might.
Sold a lot of other bikes, stopped counting after the first 50, don't really miss them, move on, new toys.
Only one I'd be a bit sad to part with would be my Busa, had it 13 years, put a lot of work and money into it. If any of the others weren't there tomorrow, the 14, B-King, H2, Bandit, it wouldn't be a drama, there's other bikes I'd want.
