As the title says..
What is the size of copper washer I would need for the engine oil drain plug?
I am thinking of getting some off ebay.
I know its frowned upon, but i keep re using the original!!

14 (inner dia.) x18 (outer dia.) x1.25 (thickness) (all in mm) will do. A beefier 14x20x1.5 is just as fine.
Local autopart stores give them away for free. Tried 3 stores and the last one gave me a handful of different sizes. :onya: Really no need to reuse them. If you do reuse them you should heat them up to make them malleable again (can't think of the correct term right now). With e-tin-can hype copper prices may make copper dearer than gold. Maybe time now to stock up on them and secure your retirement. :coffeescreen:

Only about 50p each for the proper crush washer from Suzuki......
Out of interest when did Suzuki change from a solid aluminium washer to the crush washer's they use now ?

Probably cos it uses less copper to make and so they cost them less.
And the size is ???

Or just put one of these in Speedy and never worry about it again. No more worrying about stripping or washers & makes oil changes a breeze.
I pick up a few filters, a few crush washers and a oil cooler O-ring when ever I'm near Springwood Suzuki. Same ones fit most of my bikes. I always have a couple sat on the shelf rather than be bothered to fetch them every time I need one.

..... or, rips a big hole in your sump and empty's it's guts out on the road.
I know some folk like them and are happy, but I've seen some horror story's
and the state of my exhaust collector tells me they aren't for everyone.
I do like the idea though.
Great in theory, I just wish they weren't a bit more vulnerable than a sump plug.
It was the only thing I did like about my Harley.
Seperate oil tank, pull off the bung and it emptied out,
as simple as it could be, like many of the owners... :grin:
I've bought 10 of the extra thick copper washers as suggested by Andre.

Had mine for years & know others that have for a lot longer without issue. If we all never used things because of the minoritory that have had a problem or gave something a bad review, we would all be too scared to try anything.
Firstly, you would always use the short one in the image & not the longer one which has the drain tube extension, as you are asking for trouble and this is probably what people are having an issue with.
The short one protrudes about a mm or so below the frame and I don't know many who are bottoming out their 14.
When you know you have one fitted and use common sense & caution if needed then you are not going to have a problem and I would recommend to anyone.
Fit a long one & ride like a twat & you are going to have a problem.
Had Fumoto in mine a long time.
Personally I clean both threads with acetone, I put very little black silicone in the final thread cap and I never change aluminum washer
I replaced with a dowty washer as the are still aluminium washers but with an added rubber seal .
