Went out for a 280 mile bimble around Kent and Sussex today, and just after I pulled into Newlands Corner, look what arrived. Few enough RE5's around when they were originally released, this must be one of only a few in existence I would have thought
.....and my love/hate with damned pigeons continued during the ride............ :rofl2:
There are a few around if you mix in the right circles.
Owners often post up on the Classic Jap pages.
Interesting bike if a flawed design (like all rotary)
I'd be happy to have one sat next to an XN85 just as novelty items.
Hear someone say that it sounds like an industrial sowing machine that hasn't been oiled for 10 years. After watching this I have to agree.

I thought Vlad was our resident shit-magnet... think again
My Dad on a brand new one. Guessing 1973.
Circa May 2018 at a Coffee & Cars event in Coorparoo, Turbo Drive. In amazing condition and sounded a bit odd IMO. :whistling: :whistling:
@Andre even weirder in real life seriously mechanical noises :whatever: :stir: :stir:
@gsxbarmy did the pigeon survive ?  If it's pigeon poop it's considered good luck in some circles :rofl2: :rofl2:
I found this quite interesting....

I remember the RE5 although I had forgotten about the pop up fly screen. They sounded like a 2 stroke 4 stroke hybrid and I haven't seen one in a long time, still see plenty of Norton's around. As for rotary engines my brother had an RX7 for a few years and loved it but it sure had a thirst.
Anyone remember Hercules? I got to ride one of those. Cant remember as being a good ride.
Along with Norton and a few others, all 4 of the Jap manufacturers had rotarys up and running, but only Suzuki went into production.

The pigeon survived - lucky for the pigeon I'd say :rofl2:
