Title: Boris
Post by: KiwiCol on Thursday, 25 July 2019, 04:03 PM
So, the UK has a new PM, Boris.  Is this a good thing for the UK?

This Brexit thing, I don't understand it at all, if the UK was to be out of the club, then what's the issue?

Anyone want to shed some light on what it means for the UK to leave the EU?  It's not a wind up, I'd just like to know - at a basic level anyway.  Thx

The Yanks get the Orange Gibbon.

The Pommies get Boris.

It's almost starting to make Aussie politics look sane!
(Except maybe Clive, Pauline etc)
At least we kept the corrupt union sympathiser out.

I struggle to watch Boris and not think of Harry Enfield character, Tim nice but dim.

Replace Brexit with divorce, KC. You'll soon get the picture. We have to pay to come out.
Then we have to renegotiate all the trade deals with each individual EU country.

THEN....... There's the border setup between Northen Ireland and the Republic.....

I'm not well enough informed to know what will happen when (if) we leave the EU. I don't think either of the two main parties are worth a light at the moment. What does annoy me is the fact that the vote was to go but parliament seems to be be doing all it can to prevent it - aren't they supposed to represent the people? Would the losing party in a general election be taken seriously if they wanted a second election cos they weren't happy with the result?
I'm totally sick of the behaviour of our politicians, they're like a bunch of name calling children, and they need to grow up and start working towards sorting this situation out  :furious:

It's really about taking back the control of their borders and stopping all the scumbags from the EU coming and bludging of the UK's very generous welfare system.

I like Boris he is a bit of a lad. A very intelligent lad though. He is quite cunning. The UK needed a leader to get them out of the EU. Once out I think a lot of other countries with good GDP will follow suit just letting the UK take all the heat as first to de-camp.

Please can we not do this?

I understand that there are some people on the forum who aren't from the UK and genuinely might want to know what's going on, but you should realise that this issue is dividing friends and families all over the country. It's got to the point where most people are avoiding the subject in general conversation, unless they know for sure they're with like-mided people. It's really volatile.

Honestly you've got the whole Internet to discuss this stuff - I come to this site to get away from it.

OK, I agree with Mr Fishfinger, we don't need politics on here, so I'm locking this thread. Sorry if you feel I'm a killjoy, but the whole Brexit/Boris etc topic in the UK is quite inflammatory right now
