Title: Accessing the Misano track for Motogp in September
Post by: Johno on Thursday, 18 July 2019, 11:49 AM
I'm off to Italy in September for the Motogp in September.

All arrangements in place. Tickets, hire car and accomodation 11 kilometres from the track.

All info so far says parking is an issue.

Can anyone provide any information about accessing the track by car?

I've been to Mugello and local farmers charge for parking on surrounding land.

However the area around Misano seems more urban and close to holiday coast areas.

Any info or experience would be appreciated.

Well it's now September and after three nights in Rome we are now in Bolongna. Today was a visit to Borgo Panigale and my first motorcycle factory visit. Thursday we head east to Gradara and a much anticipated weekend at Misano. Will be cheering for Rins as well as Miller.

If your staying in or near cattolica then get the free bus to tavvulia even if your not  a rossi fan it's well worth a visit.
And while on the food subject in eating in any of the town's nearest to the track (rimini, cattolica or riccinone)
On Saturday night book a table the day before as they get booked and very busy and you wait for hours to get a table.
Other thing to visit is the Marco simoncelli memorial that also in the area.
Enjoy your stay we had a great time when we were there.

Thanks for the replies. We are heading to Tavulia on Thursday night for the beginning of the madness. We are staying in a hill top village about 11km from the track and a short drive to Tavulia. If it is anything like Mugello the crowd go nuts and the track will probably be a sea of yellow. The last two races were decided on the last corner so this could be just as close. Rossi is the local and any of the other top ten are capable of winning. The recent Moto2 and Moto 3 races have been going down to the wire as well.

The Ducati Factory and Museum are recommended if you get to Bolongna. The museum has both the Mike Hailwood NCR machine and the Paul Smart Imola bike. Also a swag of World Superbike and GP bikes. You can book on line by email.

The factory tour includes the full assembly line from start to finish. The QA is thorough with cold and then final dyno testing. Watched a Pannigale being run in a booth.

Gracie mila,

Well we have arrived in Gradara with accommodation just outside the castle wall. Misano is down below about 11km. Weather is perfect and out arrival haa coincided with a three day beer festival!

Well I now have the answer to my question about accessing the track and parking at Misano. Our 11km drive from Gradara was straight forward with traffic only for the last two kms. There was a free car park (vacant land) with parking attendants to direct drivers. We walked for ten minutes and we were in our grandstand seats.

There return trip was just as easy but things will be busier on race day. We could have had accomodation closer to the track but the b and b at Gradara is great. We are inside the town walls and two hundred metres from the 12th century castle.Lots of great restaurants and the beer festival bonus. If your not from Oz and want the beach Catholica is closer and on the sea shore.Sunset last night looking towards Misano.

So is your next stop Dublin or Belfast, I've have a great wee b&b with reasonable rates and taxi service from airport, cash only (N.Ireland and Scottish notes) no receipts.

Beer fest Johnno, wish i was there. Slippery old track this year. Marquez the one to beat. Still hoping top ten Suzuki. Could even be a Dovi/Marquez shoot out, With Rins just in front of them.

Sorry Jeff,

Can't ger over to NI on this trip but would love to get back there again soon. Maybe we can tie in with the Northwest 200 or the IOM. We loved Scotland and Ireland and would like to explore much more. I'm back working in October and November so that might fund our next trip.
