Title: New Bike, new member
Post by: Trollslayer on Monday, 15 July 2019, 11:55 PM
Hello all

Bought a 2001 B+W 1400 last week. She's in great nick with 77000km on the clock. I am an ex pat located in the Dordogne, France.
It has the original exhausts which are a tad on the quiet side! Can I ask if I were to put some inexpensive after market cans on (say scorpions) do I need to get her dyno'd/remapped? I had a 1000 V-Strom and never had to get that remapped.
Thanks for any useful replies.
Cheers, here's a pic :)

Welcome :hat:

You don't have to get it remapped when just changing cans imo.

For peace of mind I suggest to get it sniffed either on a dyno or a CO-analyzer to rule out lean condition (block PAIR for that). The guys at my MOT station did the CO for free (donation for the coffee jar).

As it's a k2 I think they are less prone to run lean on less restrictive cans as @Andre says best get them checked to be sure

Gidday & welcome Trollslayer. As already mentioned, just replacing end cans won't require fuel remapping.  If you want a beauty sound, have a look at Delkevic 30cm cans, either polished or carbon, sound is just lovely.  Scorpions are a bit quieter, but guess it depends on what length you get too.
