I used to like the older version, The Storey Bridge show in the park. I've had a couple of bikes on show and hung around most of the day.

I've done the new Cleveland one a few times and don't get the same feel.

I will probably be heading North or West on a ride.

Completely agree, but I don't think there's enough room at the Story Bridge anymore to hold an event of the size it has become?
It certainly had the atmosphere back in those days, and I'm sure the  pub liked the spillover trade !

I had a heap of photos from those shows but they've gone missing sadly, I fear permanently.

Went to quite a few back then. Burke Park? Was so much fun coming out to meet/greet the police people. Happened every time.

Cleveland show get cancelled after 3 spots of rain.
Hopefully that won't be an issue this year.

They have been holding it in Cleveland for several years now. BCC made it more and more difficult to hold at Captain Burke Park. Hence the move, now Redlands Council are making it more and more difficult. Online training for parking assistants was newest hurdle this year. The list is long.
However they are a small club of motorcycle enthusiasts who donate a lot of money to "Make a wish Foundation" i.e. all gate takings. (Entry Fee).
It is run on a shoestring and their membership isn't huge, they get in and make a great day once a year for all the others interested in some rare and exotic machines. So if you can make it don't be a tight arse and pony up the entry fee for charity.

Just my two cents worth  :stir: :stir: :stir:

There was a show at the Ekka Show grounds that had the potential to be good.
Less dependent on weather, better facility's, good location etc.
It never really took off, possibly due to high costs of having a stand and public entry fee.

Shame.

One of the things I do miss about the UK are the big shows and events.
Bulldog Bash, NEC show, World Wheelie comp etc.
Not seen anything close since I've been here.

Still prefer to be riding here though!

A good tip is to park near the soccer grounds at the northern end of the showgrounds, via Russell St.  :onya: :onya:

And the winner is (see photo) some old Triumph something or other. This guy had 4 trophies, then the Grand Prize.  :winner: :winner: :winner: :winner: :winner: :ausflag:

I've never understood quite why they do it, however, my attitude is what ever floats your boat.  :onya: :onya:

There were lots of CB750's as it is the 50th year Anniversary.

I didn't make it unfortunately.
Can't beat an orange Laverda for looks IMHO

Were there any particularly rare, odd, or special bikes you saw.

I saw and heard a Benelli Sei once.
Rather have one of those than a CBX thou.

OMG so many orange Laverda's. I didn't realise they painted them that colour to distinguish them from the other race bikes on the track. Everything else was black at that time. Two in particular are raced in BEARS around Australia and have authentication from Laverda family members. Built by Red @ REDAX engineering.

Lot's of exotic bikes Vlad. A few CBX's and older bikes that looked like they were new off the showroom floor. Too much time on their hands as far as I am concerned LOL.  :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:

I know a  guys at Noosaville with the 6 cylinder 750 Sei.

It has 3 or 4 K's on the clock from being moved around,
Pushed in and out of garages and on and off driveways.
Hasn't been started since it was purchased.

He and I are both more interested in buying bikes than selling them.

Complete waste of time and effort them.
Bikes are for riding. End of story.

He's a collector.
It's only nuts, bolts and plastic.
If he wants a new one in his collection it's not harming me.

Vlad, i reckon some are for riding, some collecting. I have3 mates that do both. Have said b4, one has 1978 CBX Honda, 87ks on speedo, its built into a cofee table in his lounge. Other bloke at Bald Nob, on the road to Maieny. Youve passed his place many times im sure. He has 3 sheds full of any bike you name. Nothing restored, just buys and parks. Ive lived here 27 years and his add to buy bikes in local paper every week for that time. Im just trying to imagine how many in his sheds, guessing around 200. Thats each shed. Benelli Sei, to own, id push it around also. Another mates, mate in Tassie has MV Agusta S, only ever started at original pre delivery, not even 10 ks 0n clock. He also has Guzzis in his lounge , I know you like them Vlad. Will post pics when i find them.
