Prancelot, had a big listen to Hillbilly Moon. Not a fan of male singer but the girl on her own, amazing. Great music. Thanks for pointer.

This one. The story just carries you away. Google it before listening the song, you may want to read the lyrics as the song goes on. At least I don't get even half of the words, typical to this genre probably... It's a 40 minutes track, yes a one song that lasts for 40 minutes. A master piece I think. :whistling:
Grog,
Glad you liked the Hillbilly Moon.
You might like a band called Nightwish "Last of the Wilds"or if you like instrumental surf rock The bambi Molesters are worth listening too.
I saw Si Cranston in concert recently, very good if you like modern Swing/Jive. Another band worth a listen is Show of Hands "Roots" is a great song.
Enjoy

I like my "tunes", always got something playing down the shed, or to keep me awake driving home from work. I don't normally play much when I'm on the bike but I do have a few "ride play lists" for when the mood takes me.
I've gone Scandinavian today :)

Watched a documentary on Iron Maidens 2008 back in time tour, laid on the sofa air guitaring (is that a word ?) an empty bottle of beer singing 'run to the hills'. Much fun was had.
Got up this morning, got in the car at 5,30 am, local radio station came on and first up was AC/DC. Long way to the top (if you want to rock and roll) so up to eleven it went. Been singing it all day!.

Bob Dylan - but that's most days to be honest not just today - much to my wife's dismay :notworthy:

I'll listen to most kinds of music, Grog, except rap, but Dylan has been by far my favourite all my life courtesy of my older brother who played his albums at home in the 60's (when I was just a nipper). Never seen him though, you're a lucky man :onya:

Love Me Forever
Love me forever, or not at all,
End of our tether, backs to the wall,
Give me your hand, don't you ever ask why,
Promise me nothing, live 'til we die
Chorus:
Everything changes, it all stays the same,
Everyone guilty, no one to blame,
Every way out, brings you back to the start,
Everyone dies to break somebody's heart
We are the system, we are the law,
We are corruption, worm in the core,
One of another, laugh 'til you cry,
Faith unto death or a knife in the eye,
(Repeat Chorus)
Love me or leave me, tell me no lies,
Ask me no questions, send me no spies,
You know love's a thief, steal your heart in the night,
Slip through your fingers, you best hold on tight.
(Repeat Chorus)

God Was Never on Your Side
When the stars fall down on me,
And the sun refuse to shine,
Then may the shackles be undone,
And all the old words, cease to rhyme.
If the skies, turn into stone,
It will matter not at all,
For there is no heaven in the sky,
Hell does not wait for our downfall,
Let the voice of reason shine,
Let the pious vanish for all times,
God's face is, hidden, all unseen,
You can't ask him what it all means
He was never on your side,
God was never on your side
Let right or wrong, alone decide,
God was never on your side.
See the ten thousand ministries,
See the holy righteous dogs,
They claim to heal
but all they do is steal,
Abuse your faith, cheal & rob.
If god is wise, why is he still,
When these false prophets
call him friends,
Why is he silent, is he blind,
Will he see nothing in the end,
Let the sword of reason shine,
Let us be free of prayer & shrine
God's face is hidden, turned away
He never has a word to say
He was never on your side
God was never on your side
Let right or wrong, alone decide,
God was never on your side.
(No, No, No)
He was never on your side,
God was never on your side
Never, Never, Never, Never,
Never on your side,
God was never on your side,
Never on your side.

1916
16 years old when I went to war,
To fight for a land fit for heroes,
God on my side, and a gun in my hand,
Counting my days down to zero,
And I marched and I fought and I bled and I died,
And I never did get any older,
But I knew at the time that a year in the line,
Is a long enough life for a soldier,
We all volunteered, and we wrote down our names,
And we added two years to our ages,
Eager for life and ahead of the game,
Ready for history's pages,
And we fought and we brawled and we whored 'til we stood,
Ten thousand shoulder to shoulder,
A thirst for the Hun, we were food for the gun,
And that's what you are when you're soldiers,
I heard my friend cry, and he sank to his knees,
Coughing blood as he screamed for his mother,
And I fell by his side, and that's how we died,
Clinging like kids to each other,
And I lay in the mud and the guts and the blood,
And I wept as his body grew colder,
And I called for my mother and she never came,
Though it wasn't my fault and I wasn't to blame,
The day not half over and ten thousand slain,
And now there's nobody remembers our names,
And that's how it is for a soldier.
Vlad, some brilliant lyrics, i read the lot. My latest album, only released 40 yrs ago, not even a good name for our present situation. Stand In The Fire-Warren Zevon. I like it but im a fan of his.
Just listened to a wee bit of Teutonic Awesomeness on way in to work a few hours ago ACCEPT!!!!
For early morning Guitar shredding listen to Fast as a Shark ;)
Amongst other wonderful music, i`ve been listening to `Supper`s Ready` by Genesis - since 1972.....! :worshippy:
I'm off to see Megadeth and 5 Finger Death Punch at Cardiff O2 next Thursday...Cant wait🤟🤟
Not today but recently (and possibly more apt than usual; these corana virus 'scare' days)
I was watching (well, re-watching) a film recently and there's a song on there I finds quiet relaxing and appropriate for mitigating stress. "Everything's Alright" The first version linked (from 2000) is I think the better one vocally, but the second link is also very good (from the original 1970 film).
Well Mary's part is chill anyway, but the whole song has a beauty to it.

Always depends on the mood. Sadness (or confinemet): Pink Floyd, maybe Led Zeppelin or The Doors. Other times: Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC,... metal, metal. Can see we´re a bunch of 50+ I guess, looking at the playlists :smile2: And at the moment for my long distance running, Rammstein, nice for the rythm. Keeps me going for the hours in running.
since I working from home been varied listening but mainly John Peel shows starting on July 1978 its weird hearing song you've grown up with being 1st played on his shows

Volbeat i like.
Just stumbled across this little French beauty, fantastic guitarist, check out her other vids and turn it up, up. These were done in 2014 (I think) when she was only 15.

Love the first 2, not so much the last.
I like them all, great stuff. Saw Satriani in concert, He played lead for a Jagger concert. Was totally amazing.
I met Johnny with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings at a "HighwayMen" tour Brisbane circa 1992. All great men (Willie was stoned as MAN) Johnny was such a physically big man, (not like Joaquin Phoenix who did play a good part in "Walk the Line") and loved Australia. He visited a town called Warwick west of Brisbane quite a lot and could walk down the street without being bothered by anyone.
His music isn't great I admit that, however his lyrics are heartfelt and move the soul. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
Australia's best ever female vocalist, and IMHO one of the world's best too.
Check out other Divinyls videos on YT / music on Spotify etc.
You won't be disappointed.
Excellent Vlad, got to see them 3 or 4 times. Just as good, IMO, Suzi was amazing. Both bands equal live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGSgAT9nP80

Keith Urban and John Mayer

Excellent Mate. One of my fave Lennon songs, they do it so well. Keith a good old Sunshine Coast Boy.
Grog,
I agree both great talents. Our Keith grew up just down the road from you.
Unfortunately Keith Urban isn't appreciated as much here as he is elsewhere around the world.
Not just a country singer but an amazing all round talent - singer and guitarist.
I've been catching up on a bit of classic Marillion, well worth listening to many of their songs again, especially 'Easter'. An amazing piece of work with the usual brilliant Steve Rothery solo in the middle - 2 mins of pure magic. He's up there with Gilmour, Hackett etc etc as one of the best of all time in my opinion :).

mjgt, im a bit old, music been my thing since i can remember. Little kid searching for stations on his transistor, that was me when 8 yrs old. Never really been set on not listening to alternative options. Kids at work play stuff that im even starting to get used to/ like? So many bands i like, Spotify one of the best things ever happened. Gone from records to Cd, now just online stuff. Today, was asked to play a song i liked, amazing the young uns asked. They just have a tablet, choose your music. I was quite un believed they asked. OK so for some reason I've been on a Dido binge. She had (has) some great songs and lyrics are also awesome.
Most people know this one as it was included in Eminen's "Stan"
QuoteMy tea's gone cold, I'm wondering why I got out of bed at all
the morning rain clouds up my window and I can't see at all
And even if I could it'd all be grey, but your picture on my wall
it reminds me that it's not so bad
it's not so bad
I drank too much last night, got bills to pay
my head just feels in pain
I missed the bus and there'll be hell today
I'm late for work again
and even if I'm there, they'll all imply that I might not last the
day
and then you call me and it's not so bad
it's not so bad and
I want to thank you for giving me the best day of my life
Oh just to be with you is having the best day of my life
Push the door, I'm home at last and I'm soaking through and
through
then you handed me a towel and all I see is you
and even if my house falls down now, I wouldn't have a clue
because you're near me and
I want to thank you for giving me the best day of my life
Oh just to be with you is having the best day of my life
I want to thank you for giving me the best day of my life

Quote
With one light on in one room
I know you're up when I get home
With one small step upon the stair
I know your look when I get there
If you were a king up there on your throne
Would you be wise enough to let me go
For this queen you think you own
Wants to be a hunter again
I want to see the world alone again
To take a chance on life again
So let me go
The unread book and painful look
The TV's on, the sound is down
One long pause
Then you begin
Oh look what the cat's brought in
If you were a king up there on your throne
Would you be wise enough to let me go
For this queen you think you own
Wants to be a hunter again
I want to see the world alone again
To take a chance on life again
So let me go
Let me leave
For the crown you've placed upon my head feels too heavy now
And I don't know what to say to you but I'll smile anyhow
And all the time I'm thinking, thinking
I want to be a hunter again
I want to see the world alone again
To take a chance on life again
So let me go
I want to be a hunter again
I want to see the world alone again
To take a chance on life again
So let me go
Let me leave
Let me go.
QuoteI know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
Or tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
Where's the sense in that?
I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were
But I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
I know I left too much mess and destruction
To come back again
And I caused nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you live by the rules of "it's over"
Then I'm sure that that makes sense
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
And when we meet
Which I'm sure we will
All that was there
Will be there still
I'll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on....
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender

QuoteTwo weeks away feels like the whole world should've changed
But I'm home now
And things still look the same
I think I'll leave it till tomorrow to unpack
Try to forget for one more night
That I'm back in my flat on the road
Where the cars never stop going through the night
To a life where I can't watch the sun set
I don't have time
I don't have time
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused
But I wanna see you again
Tomorrow's back to work and down to sanity
Should run a bath and then clear up the mess I made before I left here
Try to remind myself that I was happy here
Before I knew that I could get on the plane and fly away
From the road where the cars never stop going through the night
To a life where I can watch the sun set
And take my time
Take all our time
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused
But I wanna see you again
I wanna see you again
I wanna see you again
Two weeks away, all it takes to change and turn me around, I've fallen
I walked away and never said that I wanted to see you again
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused
But I wanna see you again
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused
But I wanna see you again
I wanna see you again
I wanna see you again
QuoteI wanna go to bed with arms around me
But wake up on my own
Pretend that I'm still sleeping
Till you go home
I can't look at you this morning
I should probably have a sign
That says "leave right now or quicker"
You've overstayed your time
If I don't believe in love, nothing will last for me
If I don't believe in love, nothing is safe for me
When I don't believe in love, you're too close to me
That's why you have to leave
Maybe I slept peaceful on your shoulder
Your arm warm around my side
But it's different now, it's morning
And I can't face your smile
The second that I feel your safe hands
Reaching out for mine
I slip away and out of sight
You've overstayed your time
If I don't believe in love, nothing is good for me
If I don't believe in love, nothing will last for me
If I don't believe in love, nothing is new for me
Nothing is warm for me and nothing is real for me
If I don't believe in love, nothing is good for me
If I don't believe in love, nothing will last for me
When I don't believe in love, nothing is new for me
Nothing is warm for me and nothing is real for me
If I don't believe in love, why do you care for me?
When I don't believe in love, nothing is real for me
If I don't believe in love, you're getting too close to me
That's why you have to leave, that's why you have to leave
If I don't believe in love
If I don't believe in love
If I don't believe in love, nothing is left for me
If I don't believe in love, you're too good for me
Quote
I haven't ever really found a place that I call home
I never stick around quite long enough to make it
I apologize once again I'm not in love
But it's not as if I mind
that your heart ain't exactly breaking
It's just a thought, only a thought
But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
I've always thought
that I would love to live by the sea
To travel the world alone
and live more simply
I have no idea what's happened to that dream
Cos there's really nothing left here to stop me
It's just a thought, only a thought
But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
If my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
While my heart is a shield and I won't let it down
While I am so afraid to fail so I won't even try
Well how can I say I'm alive
If my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
If my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
Rossington gone, last Skynrd. Thats my music today, has been for decades.
Like most days it seems, I'm listening to Rival Sons. Such a good band, they never disappoint.
At this moment I'm listening to 'Do Your Worst'.
Rammstein Sehnsucht, yesterday was Zeit
Rammstein is always a good choice. :onya:
Mate saw them in concert, singer riding giant penis shooting foam out the end, keyboard player on treadmill whole concert.Must be fit.
From what I've read they get through around 18 - 20 gallons of petrol in their shows.
Went to Roger Waters yesterday night, 1st European gig for his first farewell tour. My favourite, has always been. Incredible at 79. Listening to Pink Floyd ones and his solo career which is sublime. Paid a VIP ticket, damn maybe his last tour, seen several times here. Came with a signed poster.
I bet that was good. There was a Pink Floyd tribute at Farmyard last year & they were fantastic when not the real thing.
Jeykey, amazing to see id reckon. Never seen live, just a million videos. Listening my whole life, in many different states of attention.
Some days it's nice to have no neighbours. . . .
