Hi
Would anyone have a good picture of the 14s wiring. Diagrams.
Having electrical gremlins but tonight I noticed that clutch switch dims(tried two)switches one new). the rear brake light but triggers a relay under the tank momentarily plus a hum from the STVA for 20 seconds, never heard it before .
Maybe someone with good hearing could have a listen for me to hear if the actuator sounds.
Chainsaws and motorbikes an heavy machinery not good fer the lugs
There should be downloadable gsx manual as pdf that has everything.
To the issue: pressing the clutch does what exatcly - dims the brakelight? Is it when the you press the brake as well, or do you mean that it dims the rearlight, or lights up the brakelight...? A bit confusing what you wrote there...
And there should not be relays underneath the tank... ...I suppose the bike aint running when it does that, at least I could not hear a thing the stva is doing if my bike is running...
Do you have any extra electrical gadgets or modifications in that?
How is your battery?
Will it start?
Anyways, even with out the wiring diagram you might spot the fault as there should be no connectionwith the clutch swich to other than ECU. Take the tank off and check the wiring loom where it goes over the engine - it might be that the loom has been too close to the valve head and melted, or that it has been rubbing somewhere and wires are shorting out.
Hi Malarky, check your email for a colour copy of the wiring.
I meant to say that when I turn the ignition on and pull the clutch in, when I let the clutch out the fuel pump relay clicks.
It also makes the taillight and dash lights flicker at the same time,it's a new clutch switch so I'll have to look at the diagram and figure it out.
If anyone has had similar issues it would be good to hear.
Okay, now I get it. Hmm, thats a bit odd, per the clutch switch side, but there might be two faults at the same time: if the fuelpump is in short it would hog quite a lot from the battery and that would make the lights go dimm. But I still would be looking for a shorted wires from the loom, especially underneath the tank.
I'd be checking the earth points, it could be one circuit earthing down another - just like when all your rear lights flash on a car when the indicator is on.
It's only Jag's that do that isn't it Hooli?

No.
Seriously, I think there is an earth in or around the headlight bowl & I bet all the controls, ignition etc goes trough it.
Thanks for your replies, it's had a new headlight at some point so I will need to start there.
I'm having multiple issues and it's starting to cost.
I have a set of throttle bodies coming from Oz in the next week or so so I'm hoping that solves the fast idle, rough starting revving issues.
If any ones looking for an oil temp sensor, Stp sensor, ecu and hopefully not a set of throttle bodies let me know.
I had gs550/750/1000/1150efe/gsxr1100 x3 in the 80/90s /00s and never had reliability issues except
Reg /rec and usual stuff..
Love the 14 but wonder if I should of kept the blackbird or X11!
???
Just yesterday I was adjusting the TPS but I rounded off one of the security screws so if you have the screws available I would like them Malarky. Of course you may need them for the new set of throttle bodies.
M.
Could always put a hacksaw cut into the offending security screw & turn it into a screwdriver fitting
... I usually open them "security" screws with plyers as I never seem to have the bits in hand... ...works just fine...
Those screws are a standard thread so just replace them with allen headed bolts.
Found the problem at last :boogie:.
Threw up C11 code cam sensor, new one fitted at great expense!!
No fix, erratic revving, then non starting, intermittent? starting ???
Been through with a fine comb on electrical side, replaced throttle bodies, Tp sensor, STPS sensor, coils, fuel pump relay, Eot sensor, map sensors and brain unit!
The cause of all these woes :whistling: was a Cheap? Clip
The fuel regulator clip and the fuel regulator must have been slowly departing from the high pressure filter..
Now sorted it's like a new machine with all these parts fitted.
Think I'll keep her now as I have a PhD in 14s.
Thanks for all the info folks on the site could never have done it without your inputs
Enjoy the weather
:hat:
I hope you kept all those good spares you took off.
Yes Hooli
Never know when you might need them
