The Department for Transport has this morning announced that they will be trialling new 'noise cameras' designed to crack down on motorists breaching legal volume limits. Have you got a loud pipe on your bike? What do you make to the plans? https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2019/june/noise-cameras/
Here's the start of a new industry - db measuring of your exhaust & a cert to prove it. First into this will make a killing.
QuoteEnforcing legal noise limits is currently done subjectively by patrolling police officers
Here police enforce objectively with calibrated device and set up. No need to start a new money making venture!
They would make a lot of bucks around here. One brand in particular. Have a guess which one. One in a hundred might have mufflers.
C'mon guys do your bit for the planet. :sarcasm: No noise and no fines from a zero carbon, congestion reducing, enviromentally friendly bicycle which the greenies would like to see us all riding.
Isn't that how it all started Col? Bicycles? Then someone decided to bung a motor on it to go faster & the rest is history. As the song says, history never repeats, so the greenies are pushin it uphill imo.
What happens if you let off a loud fart as you pass one of these cameras? its getting so big brother over here :bugga:

Catching you farting and burping is already reality if you use Alexa or your smartphone/computer has been hacked. Soon they put sensors on your airway and arse to measure CO2 and methane so they can tax you.
Heading that way here too. Cows fart too much so the greenies want trees planted instead of farming.
Can someone tell them you cannot eat carbon credits........
From Barmys loud pipes to cows farting. Oh how easy we stray, lovin it. :rofl2: :happy1:
Very similar subject Col. Hardlys have loudest pipes. Cows have big udders. Some of those Hardly girls also have similar. Perfectly on track with this one. :)
I bought a pack of 3 onions in Tesco yesterday- cost 85p and they were from NZ !!! How can that b low carbon food air miles green food !!! :bugga:
Notty, best Kiwi green food is Green lipped mussels, maybe Tesco sell them. Just lovely.
As a side note to that Grog, I made a mussel chowder on Saturday with those exact things. 5 dozen fresh steamed open & into a chowder, just superb.
Col, that seems to make my cook at present seem tasteless. Chowder, yum.
Some bikes with stubby cans are stupidly loud, I was following one today & couldn't hear my 14's Akra even when he was about 200yrds ahead. Bloody daft & must piss off everyone within about 2miles of the road.
A mate of mine has a Triumph Thruxton with very beautiful., custom made, straight through pipes...
Sounds great from the side at idle or with a rev.
If behind it when he gives it even a mild handful it's fricking painful !!!!!
Sounds great but by God it's unpleasant to be around.
I am not worried about noise cameras on any of my bikes apart from the Ducati with it's straight through, sounds fantastic but I think the fun police might object, might even have to put the baffle back in
Cops have occasional clamp downs on loud pipes here.
My B-King has aftermarket pipes but they are tested and tagged as legal.
The H2 SX is still stock.
My GSX1100 is loud but meets the requirements for a 1980 bike.
I normally get a heads up when they are testing bikes, the rest of the time a high gear / low rev's let's me cruise past with my other loud bikes.
Tomorrow is Diavel day out. It has full Zard exhaust, fairly noisy. It sounds quieter than 14 while riding but mates say its louder. Strange to me.
Seth, You have been warned :whistling:
@Desert Fox it wasn't me that got us pulled it was that guy on the bandit the police said :whistling: :stir:
I had a starter at a local gastro pub last weekend which was Green lipped muscles in a pernod sauce! Outstanding :smitten:

Must be the Doppler effect grog, or riding faster than the speed of sound from your own bike...
