So aside from GSX1400s in particular and motorcycles in general... what else are you into?
I'm into shooting and hunting. I spend a bit of time breaking clays with the old SxS and get out after the pigs, bunnies, foxes, feral dogs and cats when I can. The occasional deer too, I love venison !!!
I also enjoy four wheel driving, and am a mad Land Rover fan. So far I've owned.... five. Currently drive a 1995 Defender 130 - but not often, I'm usually on the bike whenever I can.
I have an interest in maritime history (posted thread about that previously).
... and I dabble in building computers, steampunk stuff, and whatever else grabs my attention. Oh look ! A shiny thing !!!!
For me it is my ZRX - loved my last one and made the mistake of selling it to finance a Hayabusa - The busa was an amazing bike but was gonna end up in an 8x10 cell or a 6x3 box so had to go. Picked up a 1999 1100 a year or so ago for £500.00 and been getting all the parts refurbed before the rebuild.
I tinker about with bikes & cars a lot - my current vehicle is a 2002 Golf GTDI with is putting out about 190 bhp - and still does amazing MPG
I really enjoy spray painting and airbrushing/pin striping (not very talented at the latter) and most of the time
other than that its eat sleep work
Del
well for me i like my sport and fitness and i love to go sking i play football and running kettle bells and combat fit and fight
i do love a project did my bathroom last year top to bottom all out in a day then tilled and re fitted the bath and sink and shower and then painted
and i fitted a new decking in the back garden and then we got our self a hot tube and this is now on the new decking and then i built a roof and open sides to the hot tube
cut my old shed down and repainted to smarten up the garden ( keep her in doors happy )
and she wont a new kitchen island so out with the old and made her a new one shops wont £600 i made it for £450 all in ( she happy )
so next in my loft i am going to move our bathroom from our bedroom to our loft and convert were the bathroom was to walk in wardrobes so a bit of a busy year
What day is it? Tuesday? OK
Well i love my archery and i have been Chair of my local Archery club for the last three years. Our current commitee has grown our club from one of the smallest to one of the largestand well established clubs in the UK.
When im not shooting or riding im usually designing and building web sites or building PCs. Something i used to do for a living but now its more of a labour of love. I have worked for some of the largest/F500 companies in the UK (which is probably why the crash happened.. I installed their IT!)
Im a family man, 3 kids. My eldest is currently at the Royal Veterinary College in London studying to be a Vet.. She cant wait to get her bike test done but cant see the point until she is 24. My other two are still at school.
Currently i drive for Asda part time for work.. SImples..
I lead a simple life with simple needs. As long as i have my bike and my bow im happy.
For some strange reason I love my job. If you have to earn a living always better to do something you enjoy.. Other than that bikes & beer, then more beer.
I like tinkering on mechanical stuff :smitten:
Luckily I am part of the Technical services team, so i could turn my hobby into my day time job. :mwink:
Other than that, in no particular order: Beer, BBQ, riding the bike , driving my Volvo V70, spending time with my wife and our 6 year old daughter. :boogie:
Karate, reading and a bit of telly.
Saw a lot of bands last year, more than I have for a long while, many of them with my daughter, who is 15.
Ive previously owned 5 bikes but never been into the modding like I am now with the 14!
I work in Sales so not really mechanically minded but brave/stupid enough to have a go!
Aside from that I'm into fitness I get up at stupid o clock and go to the gym before work.
Also love cooking for the wife and boy and I've been a Forest season ticket holder for 15 Years
I keep it simple... every Sunday.... bike during the summer, ski during winter. Used to do a lot of fly fishing bu that's now limited to 1 week on Grafham water in May. Other than that it's working with a fair bit of travel to Manila, Mexico City, Shanghai, Cairo and Bangalore interspersed with the occasional 'home project' to keep her indoors happy
Apart fro bike I used to be into guns and did a lot of shooting and reloading but the laws here have put the kybosh on that. I am also into music and HiFi and listen to music every day, the louder the better, oh and Sunday I go to church ;)
got a few interests and hobbies. Around this time of year I like to get out in my defender doing a bit of green lanning, when iam not fixing it.
Also got a couple of air rifles and shotgun which are underused as well as s lovely longbow.
During the summer I do ww2 re-enacting at various shows around the country.
My boat and MGs This is my C GT I have had for 43 years
I'm building a C GTS
Stan
Very nice Stan - a proper MG with wire wheels and chrome bumpers!
Apart from my 1400..My Mk1 Bandit 1200 floats my boat

haha yeah I hear ya !
I have a Honda CX500 'project' and have come to the conclusion that I was too brave, or too stupid, or both.
Won't let that stop me though !

Love dogs and most animals "sorry Vlad" can't see any pleasure in killing anything!
I love dogs too, Have tow of the silly buggers.
Not pleasure, more satisfaction.
The animals I mentioned are all feral here and do a lot of destruction to native animals and stock.
Getting rid of those feral animals is the best form of conservation possible as far as small native critters are concerned.

I never thought I'd have a good thing to say about a CX500 but they do make great looking Cafe racers.
I've had an Austin Healey Sprite forever, it has been sitting a bit unloved in the garage with a slipping clutch.
I got motivated the other day, I've pulled the engine and gearbox out, found the problem, leaking rear oil seal from a 1600 xflow engine.
I've had the flywheel lightened and balanced whilst it has been apart. I'm currently polishing the head.
I just need to bolt the engine back together and give the engine bay a bit of TLC - hopefully it will be back on the road in a month or so.

Too much info, go back to the car !
Hi lawrie,
I'm into HiFi as well - mostly '70s stuff - Sansui - a couple of 9090 DB's and G-8000 with speakers to go!
Love those 60lbs receiver amps!

... drag racing for me .. I spent years modifying a 1989 Volvo 740 turbo of all things :)
I am currently a board member and director of the New Zealand Drag Racing Association.
A volvo drag car ?
They must hate you !
Now that's novel
Stan
It was confronting to both the V8 guys and the JDM import crews .. a 4 banger 8 valve 1 turbo brick that was faster than their cars of choice :)
It was a road car as opposed to a hard out drag car, but it was awesome for all the years I had it .. and it`s one of the things I wish I`d never sold.
I love the Volvo    I've had a few Volvos over the years and my favourite was a740 estate rat car, contrary to popular belief our local branch of teh Volvo Owners Club are very appreciative of modified Volvos and I reckon they'd be all over a drag car!
Other than the 14 I have this

I used to do regatta sailing on a semi pro level, but now age and injury are starting to tell, also I'm a self employed boat technician which is very varied, I love my work but am starting to like the customers less and less! otherwise my 14's , travelling and preparing my retirement in the phillipines (house, land etc)
A couple of times a year I like to do some Drag Racing. It's fun to race others but it's always about a personal best for me.

Best I have managed is 11.60 sec. Completely Stock however, fast off the line but struggles up the top.
I've never tried - I just KNOW I'd stall it on the line....
Just aquired a water cooled ts 250 suzi. going out in the dunes now ...bye
Tallman.....yesterday beneath the helmet is Grant Dalton, CEO of the Americas Cup team, "Emirates Team NZ"

To be honest, that is probably close to on the money .. I believe 11.3 ex factory.
I`m a bit dubious of the 10.59 .. though the bike does have a Yoshi straight cyclone and a TRE mod .. so maybe!!
Guess I`ll have to find out for myself!!

Brilliant pic and in my fave colours
I still have this, I restored it about 25 years ago, its 1980 & I took it out a couple of days ago, it runs absolutely quiet & smooth.
what a lovely bike ,, a work of art
nice work lawrie :onya:
a great pic to have froudy he looks well happy :)
Nice pic of your Dad Froudy.
Both my younger brothers have the same bike - one chain one shaft drive - your is in very nice shape lawrie!

Stan
In the early 80's I had choice to make, buy a house or an ET, the fastest most powerful bike around. I decided that a house was the sensible adult choice, so bought the bike, cost me an arm and leg to run, but what a bike it was in it's day. I would love to get another one but the 14 will have to do until I can find one in a condition I will accept.

Yeh, I did also have an 1100, with the later engine, but it was a bit too savage for me, scared the beejeesus out of me, nice bike but I sold it about 5 years back, again, perhaps I shouldn't have.
Is it me, or are these 'almost a Kat'?? :undecided:

I love to travel and have done all continents except for Antarctica
Sir Edmund Hillary took Massey Ferguson tractors to Antarctica. Put tracks on them i think.
There's something special about old tractors eh !
