Hi everyone,
I am the lucky new owner of a 2004 GSX1400. Got the bike for a relative steal, ir has 78000 kms on the dial so far. Have had it serviced, everyone but a valve clearance.
The mechanic was very happy with the bikes condition and many positive remarks were had.
It needs a good clean and polish, a little bit of the lacquer on the forks and engine casing is pitting but less then I have seen on other examples.
The short term goal will be cleaning up the forks, engine casing, crash bars and headers. Make the bike look pretty stock, I'll figure out what I want to do after that.
:welcome1:
To all thinks 1402 .
You have come to the right place.
Loads of good help and info here .
Enjoy the bike

Thanks everyone,
I didn't even notice that emoji Kiwifruit, I'm sure it will get a lot of use :P
The bike is fantastic, so far it has been a joy to ride in all circumstances. Very please with my purchase, can't wait to give it the TLC it deserves. Lucky for me a lot of people on the forum have done a lot of the hard yards. So much information to go through.
My only real concern is selling the CB500 now...
Bit of colour on the wheels is a nice highlight. Where in Australia are you ? :confused1:
Hi and Welcome :onya:
GSXKING, I am currently NSW South Coast, looking forward to getting out and about on the weekends. I do like the pop of colour on the wheels, but am a little undecided on the gold. with the wheels, forks and engine casings I haven't decided if I am going to polish, paint or powder coat yet. The forks had fresh seals and oil done back in Feb, so I don't want to strip them down anytime soon, so it will be polish or paint for them.
Welcome - Croeso :)
welcome!
Welcome to the forum fella

Hi,
Welcome!!
You have come to the right place for anything GSX1400.
:hat: :boogie: Happy riding.
Thanks guys,
You are totally right Sir Prancelot, so much information to go through. In the short term I will be focusing on just cleaning the bike up, I am thinking going in the direction of the GSX1400Z all black colour scheme. The trick is knowing where to start :P

Maybe Red
IS Batman!
@Red Biker Red, would you like to instruct young Bates in the finer details of black? Seems he would appreciate a bit of tutelage, that is if you have a bit of spare time away from the (Bat) cave.
Are you seriously saying Batman's real name is Ted :stir: :clapping:
Well, could be . . . you'd have to ask him next time you see him in a mask n cape. "statue Ted?" :rofl2: :happy1:
Lol , ask yourself if you've ever seen Batman and me in the same room!!!!
Ted is my un assuming name ala Clarke Kent :salute:
@ Masterbates welcome along :salute:
If you're coming over to the dark side, one thing that is non negotiable is getting rid of the old blunder buss exhaust. It just doesn't fit with the whole 'stealth' look.
Engine casings I would powder coat but you can do the fork lowers, rear hangers, clocks yourself with rattle cans as a short term measure.
I've also done my headers/rocker trim & engine block with HTP myself as well.
My tank and all fairing are vinyl wrapped in Black satin whole lot was £150.
For a 'splash' of colour the wheels are a metallic wizard red, the last bit of chrome (stanchions) is being banished later this summer with nitrade coating :imrgreen:
It's been persisting down all day today so I've bought the bike inside!
The BAT BIKE! and you've finally got the trainer wheels off too! :boogie: Well done mate! There'll be not stopping you in your crime fighting ways now . . .
Oh damn, so Red's bike is totally blacked out... I was thinking more like http://urbangetto.jp/web/?p=36156#jp-carousel-36157
We will see though, in the meantime I have thrown on the Delkivic cans that came with the bike, I'll take better pictures when I have some daylight.
Looks better already MB :salute:
Proper black out
@Red Biker Faster than the speed of dark.
(Remember dark was there before the light )
:onya:
Notice your mobilty scooter got no fluffy white dog in the front basket to act as frontal impact protection. C'mon mate safety first.
Nice bike in front of it :onya:
Lol spotted that error Fruit but I'm not proud, ...but for the grace of god etc
There is a guy in our village who's 'pimped' his moblity scoot to be more bike like, must get a photo :hat:
There's a video doing the rounds on FB highlighting the 'disabled' section at Anfield, when Liverpool score, all of them stand out of their wheelchairs!!! :worshippy:
