Title: Radial front brake master cylinder.
Post by: The Stumeister on Sunday, 14 April 2019, 01:17 AM
Has anyone changed over from their standard front brake m/c to a  radial style one from a later model bike...?

Seen it done and been told it is a worthwhile mod, thinking of doing it myself with one from a gsxr 600...thoughts..?

A few (who may have since changed their bikes and left the forum) did do this mod and found a general improvement; if one looks at what improves ones brakes, fitting a radial master cylinder comes above replacing the discs and calipers as a worthwhile mod.

I think it was either a B-King or Busa master cylinder that was used, but can't quite recall (think it was done on the old gsx1400 org).

@seth or @Blubber might have a better idea

I'm going to change my brake and clutch master cylinders to Bking ones when I got the Bking forks and calipers to my b/w gsx1400.
The bK8ng ones fit with all the mirror fittings in the same place and the fluid resovour sits level rather than tilled on sports bike bars.
I got covers anodized in black from eBay as the std one have bking engraved in them .

Hope this helps

Gen-1 Busa's never had radials, and neither did the early 07 / 08 Busa's, I'm not sure about later ones.  The problem with using Busa masters, or any off a sportsbike, is the are normaly clip on mounted and designed to sit on bars that slope down. I have a Busa master on Renthals and the angle is all wrong, it works but looks awful.

All B-Kings had radial masters, I haven't used one on my 14, they aren't as common as Busa parts but are designed to sit correctly on traditional bars.

EDIT: Although the Busa ones don't sit right, not having a mirror Mount is an easy fix. For a couple of dollars I bought the genuine half moon clamp parts from Suzuki, can't remember if they were GSX14 parts, it's common the add or remove the mirror mounts when swapping master cylinders.

EDIT-2.  Seth, I've never seen King masters with a factory "B- King" engraved in them. As stock they have a lot of tiny writing about brake fluid etc. I'm guessing yours were 2nd hand and had been fitted with aftermarket tops?

I have a complete b-king front end in mine. Only i upgraded the brake master to a radial Brembo rcs for no other reason than that I got I offered for a nice price.

I can not comment on a radial master in a 14 front end because I never had that combo.

@Tony Nitrous I thought mine were standard as they were like new .
I couldn't remember if my Bking had the same tops or not .
I'll get the tops on eBay asap as I still have them and they'll be useful to a Bking owner .
Cheers
