Title: Replacing RHS engine cover
Post by: Newtons on Wednesday, 27 March 2019, 07:04 PM
Picked up the new RHS engine cover and gasket today. Planning to change it this weekend when I do an oil change.

Should I use a smear of silastic gasket or just the gasket?

Sorry for the basic question... I don't have a workshop manual yet!

Cheers,

Pete

Should be okay with just the gasket but silicon will not hurt, don't forget the washer on the front lower bolt.

If it's a new gasket I lightly rub grease into it.(can then be reused if ever needed).
I wouldn't use instant gasket glue on it .
If fitted on the side stand you won't even lose any oil.

Perfect, thanks. I'll drop the oil and do it before I refill it but sidestand is a good tip thanks.
